Default True Dual Duals Build

I posted a few teaser pics of my exhaust build in my 8.8 rear build thread and some guys asked to see more of the exhaust. So here you go. The design criteria for the exhaust: #1 - True duals & X-pipe, of course. #2 - Two different exhaust volumes to keep me, the neighbors, and the cops happy. #3 - Exit thru the CME out the back. I'm too old to put up with the noise & vibration of under-car exit (been there - done that). #4 - Maximum ground clearance on a lowered car. #5 - 2" of suspension travel in the rear.

I chose 2 1/2" pipes since my BBK headers have 2 1/2" flanges anyway and I just couldn't squeeze any bigger pipe over the 8.8 rear and still have enough travel. And from what I've seen the 2 1/2" mandrel bends I used have the same flow capacity as a 3" exhaust-shop bend. I got a Lawson X-pipe off Amazon and mandrel 'J' bends from Summit & MBS. For the under-car mufflers I used Dynomax race bullets and the cross-over mufflers are Jones Exhaust turbo tube mufflers. I got 2 QTP 3" electric cutouts to push the exhaust thru the cross-overs. I used 3" cutouts to reduce restriction and flared out the 2 1/2" pipe for the 3" flanges I made. I have to say I'm happy with the results. What the video doesn't bring across is how deep it sounds with the cutouts open. And the best part - no rattles, drone, or vibrations inside the car.

Here are a few pics & video:

Wow, very impressive! Sounds good, and looks like you spent a lot of time on it.

Thanks. I built it over the winter so I suppose it took a couple month LOL. It was a lot of work but really fun and satisfying at the same time.

That's incredibly clever. I'm surprised how quiet it is through the Turbo Tubes. I love it.

The turbo tubes are fairly heavy so I have to assume I added a little weight vs. the ORY, I pipe, & Dynomax transverse muffler. Maybe 15 lbs.?

Looks a little heavier, but probably not much. Thoughtful cross overs. Very nice job.

Wow, great work. I love what you did with the frame to make more clearance for the pipes right off the headers. Sounds good also, nice job!

That's a very nice set-up you came up with. I work nights and driving mine at 2-3 am attracts a lot of attention and wakes up a lot of people. Might have to look into something like this.

Ya, flying under the radar can be a good thing sometimes. I put the cutout switch in the ashtray so I can go to stealth mode quickly.

Thanks. I don't think I've ever seen a back to back test. But I sure prefer the sound of the car w/ true duals. And even with 2 1/2" pipes it still has 36% more flow capacity than the stock I-pipe.

A couple guys asked me for a parts list:

X-pipe - Lawson 66925
Bullet mufflers - Dynomax 24215 from Summit
Turbo tube mufflers - Jones Exhaust ATT5018S-8 from Summit
Tight J-bend Summit 670177 Summit link
U-bends Summit 622001 Summit link
3" cutout - QTP link

I'm building my own duals based off yours minus the quiet/loud after axle setup. Can you post a few more pictures of the part that goes up and over the axle?
