Default Y pipe not long enough to get to mid!!!

Ok so i am putting bbk long tubes and ory on my 01 ss and the y pipe is not quite long enough to meet with the mid pipe. I tried putting a 3" but joint band clamp on it but since the mid pipe is shrunken at the end to fit with the stock y it wont get tight enough to do any good . I guess my though now was to get a piece of expanded 3" exhaust pipe and go far enough back to get to the non shrunken part of the mid pipe and go a couple of inches onto the y and just clamp it but i really want something that is going to look cleaner than that (im kind of a perfectionist) just seeing if you guys had any better ideas.

Thanks

Sounds like a great excuse to put in a dual setup because no mater what you do, it will look like what it is. Jerry rigged. The stock cat back is 2.75" pipe. That is why you are having trouble clamping 3" onto it. If you can find a piece of 2.75" pipe then you should be able to clamp it over the y and slide it into the catback.

I went to a muffler shop today and got a piece of 3 inch exhaust pipe and had it expanded on the ends so that i can slide it on the y and also cut off the piece of 2 3/4 on the cat back and get to the 3'' part of it. I have gmmg catback and it was shrunken at the first 4" or so of it to fit with the stock y.
