What size turndown?

What size turndown?
I've decided that when i get my headers on my car i'm just going to run a bullet style muffler (really leaning towards the Magnaflow 14419, or Moroso Spiralflow, help me decide) out of the Y pipe and dump it. Probably going with the BBK LT's and i believe their Y pipe is 2.5". I want everything to be a slip on fit, using only clamps and not welding.
I'm probably over thinking this, but what size muffler and turndown would i need with that Y pipe for it to be a slipfit? I'm just worried i'll buy the wrong size and then have to send it back and wait for another to ship back to me.

A 3" y-pipe like TSP or Speed Engineering will actually have a 2.75" outlet which is made to slide into the stock-size 2.75". To be honest, I'm guessing the BBK Y-pipe is going to be the same.

Where did cutout come from in this conversation? lol If you're looking to run a bullet with a turndown after the Y, a cutout won't be necessary.
As for size, you'd need to cut the slip-in portion of the y-pipe to get rid of the 2.75" so that you can be sure to slide it into the 3" inlet of the bullet. You'll need to get a reducer (Walker/Dynomax makes them) if you want to run that setup.
