Intake manifold and true dual choices
I'm looking for opinions on what intake manifold to go with for my build, and I would like to try true duals as well. I am in California and need to pass emmissions, legitimately. I have a 98 z28 so I need to retain egr, otherwise it would be a no-brainer and I'd go for the ls6 intake.
My setup will include :
Stock 346" displacement
Ported 243's(not sure how much or how far, probally no more then a tsp stage 1 or ad aced inductions 218 cc porting, these will be milled .015 though)
Tsp custom spec'd cam 215/223 .604/.610 on a 114+4
Stock exhaust manifolds until I can find shorty headers
Stock cats until I can find CA legal high flow cats
Options: I've heard good and bad things about the BBK SSI intake. I understand there is a lot of concern about heat with it but it does have an egr port
The other option would be a cheap fast 90 or 92 drilled to accept egr. I know the 102 is CARB legal but I don't need that big of an intake and I don't want to buy new rails/injectors.
I would also like to go for a 2.5" true dual setup adapted to the stock cats. Although I'm at stock ride height, I don't believe I need a dual 3" system and if I can find a shop local to me, I will probally try and have it custom fabbed. I'd prefer it to go over the axle and out the rear.
This car will be my daily driver once completed and will not see forced induction or nitrous. It will more then likely never see the drag strip
Any and all inputs will be appreciated and valued, thank you

If you're dead set on making the car Kalifornia legal, instead of spending the money on luggage and a plane ticket...
You CAN drill the LS6 for an EGR, as you can the Fasts.
For the exhausts, there should be a carb legal shorty available. I'm not familiar with them though.
If anything, run LS7 exhaust manifolds and fab them from there.

Will the ls7 manifolds work with my car? I thought they were center outlet for the vettes as opposed to rear outlet on camaros? (Uneducated guess)
As much as I'd love to leave commiefornia, I can't (familly in NorCal and still in the marines haha-sure as hell not reenlisting)
I'd tried to find an slp ls6 intake but had no luck whatsoever... How do you go about drilling the ls6 intake? There does t really appear to be a boss to mount the egr to like on the fast or BBK

For mounting the EGR, you'll have to get crafty...
If you're going to have a full custom setup done, they'll run them from the flange on the manifolds and back.
To make it easy though and run your stock Y, you could go Pacesetter shorties, "Mid Length". They are 50 state legal.
part#70-1348 is the painted shorties for a 98-99 LS1 F-body, and pt#72C1348 is the ceramic coated version.
The Edelbrock and Hooker shorties also have EO#'s, as do the JBA's.

Drill it. Be creative. See if this thread helps. You CAN run an LS6 intake.

While I'd like to believe this, do you have dyno results that show the FAST intake can build more power? In my humble opinion, they are overpriced pieces of plastic. $800-$1K for 10 hp is not my idea of wise spending. Please educate me

Dyno section: plenty of threads where folks post before and afters.
GenIII External: plenty of threads that show the same.
Call and ask any vendor you wish. They'll say the same.
The intake simply makes power, period. That's what it was designed to do. It's superior. Plain and simple.

This is off topic, and as dr whigham said, there are plenty of threads that cover this. If you used the search button, you would know that! That being said, I would not use an aftermarket composite intake with forced induction. End of story.

i would look for a fast 78. they are getting cheaper and can tap for egr. i bought one for $400 to use on my ls6 top end swap and only made 8whp or less on the dyno vs my stock ls1 intake. 78 fasts are same price as ls6s are going for and if you look up 78 vs 92 fast dyno gains... not much of a difference up to 6500rpms i think was where the 90mm started to make more power. they are not worth $900. unless you use aftermarket heads and big cam.
