True duals with stock manifolds and cats!!!
I got my 2.5 inch true duals installed today. I had the shop that fabricated the system for me run it from behind the stock cats. They tied it right into the existing flanges. So I still have the stock exhaust manifolds and cats, but it still sounds AWESOME!! Pull four bolts and the whole system drops out of the way. There is still room for eventual SFC's and any other add-ons down there I can think of. I had an H-pipe installed below the tranny and the system runs into Flo-Pro Twister racing mufflers. They have 2.5 inch inlets and outlets and are about 12 inches long. When you look into them, they have a 1 inch diameter hole through the middle and have an auger-looking spiral around the center. The outside diameter of the whole muffler is 4 inches. After the mufflers, the system continues under the axles and up into 3 inch slash cut tips. The whole system ran $435.00 installed.
First reactions on a scale of 1-10 were a grin factor of 11 for sound. It has a very deep and throaty rumble. I was surprised the hear that the idle is quieter than before. I had a Flowmaster 80 series before and the difference is night and day. When you open her up, she ROARS. But not too loud. It definitely turns heads and makes people wonder what I have caged below the hood, but not so loud that it's illegal. I have a really hard time keeping my foot out of her now. As if I didn't before! The only negative is the drone from 2000 to 3000 inside. But if the windows are down, it isn't noticeable at all.
As far as clearance goes, I am lowered 1.5 inches and gained about 1/4 inch over the stock Y-pipe for lowest point. The mufflers are well below the axle, but speedbumps have been no problem so far. I found a couple of bigger ones and tested it out. I was wary about going under the axles, but it was a breeze after all. So for anyone who isn't to the header stage yet, but is looking for a new exhaust system, this was as cheap if not cheaper than most catbacks out there. And the sound can't be matched by any 2 into 1 setup. I will get pictures and a sound clip as soon as I can. Overall, money WELL spent. I absolutely love it and can't wait to drive her tomorrow.

Congrats man!
I almost went with the Flo-Pro Twisters....
One question for ya.. Did they use flanges after the mufflers to go under the axle, or did they just bend some pipe and weld it out the back?

This is 2.5" stock manifolds/no cats. Pair of bullets before tips. Could leave the cats this way too, I suppose.
They took both pipes down the right side and over the axle.
H-pipe is under tranny.
I have also seen this done with mandrel pipe, headers, and X-pipe.
Seems like the way to go.
BTW: Stock exhaust duals sound great too.

No flanges after the twisters, just welded in. I'll get pics ASAP.
