Default LS1 to V6 Swap

What issues will I run into when installing an LS1 engine from a 02 Camaro SS into a basic V6 2002 Camaro? Will the engine harness plug up to the V6 car?

I think the v6 cars have a different steering rack, the pinion is at an angle that causes the steering shaft to hit the exhaust manifolds of an ls1 when it rotates.

Thanks spy2520. I would be using the LS1 K member and steering rack. My main concern is the engine wiring harness.

Probably simpler to buy a car with an LS1 already in it and sell the v6 car.

I have the 2002 SS in my sig that I totaled last Monday night. So I should have all the parts that are needed. I just wasn’t sure about wiring and interment cluster and little things like that. Around here they are very proud of their LS1 camaros. So I thought I could save a lot of $ by buying a V6 car and swapping all the parts from my SS.

You could likely remove all the stock wiring and replace it from your totalled car. Since you would have both cars side by side, I don't see why not. Would be cleaner this going this route instead of splicing wiring. I bet you that wiring/connectors/ECU won't be the same.

One thing to note however, if you bought a V6 car, and swapped it, and let's say later it got stolen or written off again (just thinking worst case here) - what would your insurance company pay you out for? A v6 or a LS1 priced Camaro? Consider this before doing this...
