mushroomed intake manifold blues

I got a used intake manifold. And after receiving it I see the all the plastic around the bolt holes. Is there anyway to cut and redo this?

Sounds like someone used ft-lb instead of in-lb when installing. I would be more concerned with cracks if it was overtightened to a large degree.

Any photos of the damage? I would also contact one of the ls1tech vendors who might have some better ideas on what could be done to salvage the intake.

Don't these manifolds have steel sleeve inserts to prevent this?

It's not a piston. It's not a crankshaft. Yet this is the internal engine section?

Talk to the seller about it if you're unhappy w/ the manifold.

If I recall correctly only two are sleeved, one per side, diagonally opposite from each other.

Makes you wonder though just who is sitting there tightening bolts with their eyes closed haha.

I think I'd just put some washers over the mushroomed
areas. Maybe stack a hard over a rubber washer if there
isn't a nice planar surface anymore. You only need to keep
the O-rings softly compressed and the torque-down,
uniform.
