Default Would 2" headers be too much?

I have a chance to get a great deal on some Kooks 2" long tube headers. They came off a 440LSX block. They would now be going on my 383LS1 block. Is this too much header for this engine?

No such thing in my opinion. I would jump on them. They will work great on your 383 and be able to support as much power as you want to throw at it in the future.

Lots of people told me I would only get 5-10 HP swapping to 1 7/8" on my stock cube H/C car. I ended up getting 20rwhp 15tq. I would definitely do it.

Like I said in my first post, I would always opt for the bigger headers. As well all know, no one who owns a LSx is ever "satisfied" and is always looking to make more power. Why limit yourself with a smaller header and just have it be a restriction later on down the road. A 2" primary header will be perfect on a 383 and handle any future mods you go with later on down the road. Plus, if you ever decide to go turbo in the future, you can always sell them and make most of your money back.

Going from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8? What brand headers did you have, and what brand do you have now?

Yes (I think you even commented on one of my older post) Went from Mac mids/ory to Speed Engineering 1 7/8 and SE ory. It affected the spark and A/F so after tune touch-up = 19rwhp (same dyno, temp and DA) on motor only. AND these things love the juice too!!

Well, the Speed Engineering headers are priced damn good. My headers are the Stainless Works headers, which are 1 3/4 primaries and 2.5" collectors. My car makes good power now, but I wonder how much more could be had by upgrading to the Speed Engineering 1 7/8 headers?

Yeah, my Mac ball-flange collectors necked down to 2 1/4" and my tuner said they were holding me back especially on the juice. I did do some mods to the ORY to make it a true 3" system https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-may-vary.html

Well I've got the 3" TSP duals, so I'm good there. I know the smaller primaries and 2.5" collector are holding my setup back big time. If I could pick up at least 15rwhp by switching, it would be well worth it.

Nathan with your car you would definitely get some good gains going from a 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 or 2" headers. Well worth it imo.

That would be great. I've got a small garage, but at my grandma's house, there is a decent sized shop/garage with all my grandpa's tools and quite a bit of space.

I'd be more than happy to help you out too with anything you got going on. Not this weekend, but next weekend, if weather is good, I'll have you come over and we can get the cars out for some fun. Wife will be out of town.

Sounds like a plan man. I'm getting my wisdom teeth cut out this weekend so it's a definite no go lol. Next weekend I'll be out of town on the 15th, should be good for that sunday though. Sorry OP for this little chat on your thread.
