Well I didn't exactly get as much information from Dorman that I had hoped for, this it the response I got.

This intake is a copy of the OE intake. This design has been flow tested and does match the factory GM specs in that regard.

Dr_Whigham you seem pretty good at getting answers from people on the phone, maybe you can call one of those numbers and get some info out if them. I'm going to write a reply to them asking if its a copy of a factory intake why does it look completely different and have parts with the patent number to a FAST 78/ 90. I mentioned that in my first email but it was obviously ignored. At least there claiming if was flow tested to be equal to a real LS6 intake.

Hehehe.

Just got off the phone with Mike, the product manager for Dorman.

The lower is INDEED from Comp. They have an agreement in place. That's why you see the Revision J as well as the U.S. Patent #. It's shared and licensed to Dorman.

The top is different though, obviously.

The way this came about was Mike had a friend who he was visiting with, and at the time, working on his LS1. He was talking about how the LS6 intake was treated like gold used, and how nice it would be to have a cost effective alternative...

Took a long time to develop, but here it is, the finished product.

Mike was absolutely SHOCKED it only took 2 weeks for this to be discovered (the Revision J and the patent #), as that's as long as it's been out on the market.

It is vibration welded, but he said a quick once over with a Dremel and it EASILY comes apart. You can RTV Ultra Black it back together.

According to him you'll be impressed with the product you receive for the price you pay.

There's an LS2 90mm version in the works, about another 2 months.

agree good work.... but i have seen many 90's and 78's and every single one of them have "wilson" cast into the top. so if they didnt make it they at least had a hand in designing it

also... being that he lower is a copied fast doesnt that mean whoever uses it will need the button cover bolts? a good not to put in that description lol

I think that's the key right there. Weird though how Comp wanted to dance around the issue. Well, not an issue. Poor verbiage on my part. The "question" I guess.

Steve, I'd like to know this as well, as far as WHO casts and makes the Fasts.

Mike said the reviews he's heard so far have been positive, but he wants the negative too when they come up. The product can't get better without criticism as well.

Remember, they aren't a PERFORMANCE company, and don't want to go down that road. Simply replacement parts. Nice to see someone stepped up and made an LS6 intake affordable.

Wilson manifolds is actually right down the road from me. I have been to their shop a few times. They actually dont make any manifolds there. Like none, no casting machines, no plastic molds etc. I talked to the guys there and they only design the files then sent them off to whoever, that goes for the 78,90,92. The 102 was designed by rhs so they had no knowledge of that.

Just traded a few more emails... I was inquiring about button head bolts...

He said they did test fitting and they didn't see any fitment issues. That worries me. I don't think they took gasket compression into account.

2 weeks, i noticed that in 20 sec


shows how much time I have making intakes look stock haha


no more asking about what it flows. and tech info for emails and sales guys. that's dosn't matter at all, the whole deal how people flow and intake (one port, pulling thu the other 7, pulling thu a TB, pulling thu a head) people do it all diffrent ways,

Just wait for someone to dyno it over another intake.
