1 7/8" makes more power everywhere on an FBody. This topic has been beaten to death.

Resurrected, beaten to death again, witch-doctor-charm-brought-back-to-life-again....

This, and "Is a Fast 102 too big for a stock cube motor...?"

Both being the Lazarus topics of LSx.

We have American Racing Headers on our C5 and love them. Customer service was first class and I have never personally seen a finer product. I'm sure others will chime in with good headers, and don't doubt there are nice ones out there, but I'll never buy another brand. ARH come on the COPO Camaros, Drag Pack Challengers and the Cobra Jets from the factory so that should say something.

well when I had my c5z and c6 I called LG, ARH, and neither recommended 1 7/8 at stock power levels until the 600hp range..

Mostly 1 7/8 seems to move the power band up top from my research.. Either way it's not a huge difference on a bolt on car..

C5/6 have different primary design and length. That's why I said FBody. I however have 1 7/8 and I love them. I know I'll never outgrow them...

There needs to be an automated template showing pros and cons of both that responds to these threads.

Agreed. 1 7/8" are the way to go. That torque number for your C5 is impressive.

1 7/8ths are fine but i make plenty of power through my 1 3/4 KOOKS.

ARH is my choice right now though if i was looking to buy LTs.

Best is largely subjective. To some people BEST is the cheapest money for the best possible product in that range. Def go with 1 7-8 and if you're on a budget speed engineering is it. If you have more cash to spend, want the absolute BEST and choose to support and American built product then KOOKS or ARH is the way to go. I have ARH's on mine and they ft better than my buddies kooks however I realize that chanegs from car to car

I have installed north of 30 sets of headers on various Fbodys and C5 vettes. Most of those were Kooks, and a couple were ARH. A few pacesetters as well.

As far as quality and fitment, Kooks and ARH seem to be really close. ARH may have a slight advantage.

From what I understand if you go with a catted Y then ARH is the best because they use a quality converter where Kooks use a cheaper one.

I think you meant collector. I've heard the same though. That's why I chose Kooks true duals. Sure they cost a fortune but the sound alone makes it all worth it!

I'm assuming he did mean converter, as in a cat converter, since he was talking about a catted Y-pipe.

ARH with their Y and their high flow cats, with the slp lm1 and love the sound! There are other good headers, but I'm glad I went with ARH cause I did it outside in the winter! https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...installed.html

I tried a couple and the only thing I can say is NEVER get the SLP "Tuned Length" 1 7/8 if your car is lowered at all. They hit everything and seemed to hurt torque down low but breathed well up top. I couldn't drive over a match stick without "clang" "thud"..
