Default had some gold-plating done on the LS1

i guess my old thread was deleted because i posted in the wrong forum, so let me try again.

had some gold-plating done to my engine valve covers, coil brackets and alternator/powersteering brackets (relocation brackets). throwing this in my bmw e46 with a full shaved engine bay and tucked harness/tucked radiator. here's my original thread if you haven't seen it already:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...questions.html

don't mind the ebay intake. i'm only using it for the intake pipe!

Stuff came out really nice! Quite a few of my guitars have gold plated hardware, and while it looks really nice, it does not hold up well, and wears off pretty quickly. So be careful how you clean it and try to keep contaminants to a minimum.

I deleted your thread because you already have a thread in the Gen III section and because gold plating your accessories really doesn't have anything to do with engine internals. That's why there's External sections.

The only thing not dirty on my squalor-ey car is the driver. No wait, ..... nevermind.

yeah the plating shop told me that it may discolor after a while. i was worried until they told me it'll probably happen over the course of a year or two. i had originally thought it would be months. worst-case scenario is i'll just have to tear everything down and replate everything. the car is a showcar so i'll just mark it off as an off-season expense anyway haha.

haha it's not everyone's cup of tea. i get that. i did shoot for grabbing attention though. i wanted to do the outer part of the heads but wasn't sure how that would affect cooling since they are aluminum too.

gotcha. sorry! i'm just so used to forums where everything engine-related is in one forum. ls1tech is the first forum i've joined that have it all separated out haha
