Default Need to quiet exhaust

With my new tranny and yank 4k stall converter, my exhaust is now a bit much lol. I have slp long tubes, 3" ORY, and 4" y back with a Borla XR-1. I was thinking about trying to add a 4" Dynomax race muffler with 5" case before the rear end, but Im wondering if that will hardly do much. If I were to put a Magnaflow muffler in place of my XR1, would it be any quiter if it has the same size case? Looking for some insite here, Thanks!

Is this a bullet style muffler you have that's up by the y-pipe?

I honestly don't think it will make a huge difference if in the same size

Is there another borla muffler you could swap right in? Isn't the XR1 one of the louder models?

The Borla is a harsher sounding muffler. I'm a big fan of the MagnaFlow bullets myself. The 14419 is a 3" in/out, stainless, and sounds DAMN good. Might think about adding that?

For a 4" in/out oval muffler consider the Hooker Maximum Flow #21609HKR.

If you're willing to use a 4" to 3.5" adapter an step down to a 3.5" in/out muffler look at the Magnaflow #12909. it has a 22" case length, and would be the most effective quieting down the exhaust.

I added the Magnaflow rear section (muffler and dual stainless tips) on mine to quiet it down for tracks with sound restrictions and I haven't had any trouble keeping it under 98 db ever since.

You might consider adding a resonator or small bullet style muffler up in the I-pipe, and just keep you Borla

My understanding about the Magnaflow race mufflers is that they have no packing material in them to burn up or blow out over time. So their not comparable to the regular line of Magnaflow mufflers which have packing material around the perforated tube. Furthermore a 4" in/out bullet muffler in the I-pipe will do very little to tone down the DB level of the exhaust. That's why I listed to two I did, since the both have packing material and have a larger internal surface area than the Borla XR-1.

Thanks for the replies! After talking to mufflex, They said the 4" Maganflow is definetely the quietest between the XR-1, Spintech, And the Magnaflow 14153. Looks like I might be trying one out.

I have a hooker max flow muffler on mine, not the oval, but it is very quiet. It's even quieter than the hooker aerochamber muffler I used to run.
