Default Duals/Spohn/X pipe/Help please

I'm Wanting to put True Duals on my car when I get back from Iraq. I'm gonna get a set of LT's and go out the back from thier...Inbtween those two I have a Spohn Torque arm which will make this a little more work, but it's doable. After doing a lot of seaching I think I'll be going under the Axles.
Unless anyone has gone that route and truly regrets it, then by all means, please tell me so, and what you did that was better.

From the header into the X pipe...With the Spohn TA in the way, do I need a Custom X-pipe made, or do I not deal with custom work untill after the x-pipe?

Thanks,
Andrew

Currently kooks is developing a true dual setup but cost estimates are around 1200 bucks

I would so some searching, especially in the texas section, for a lanes true dauls. He makes them for people down their, although they dump before the axle, they might give you some great ideas for your setup as far as how to run the pipes or how the x pipe might work.

Hope you find out everything you need to know man,

There are a few options for you. For mine I went with no x-pipe, straight up to the axle basically. You could get a LT1 style Spohn torque arm bracket which is completely flat, no clearnance made for a Y-pipe. At which point just about any exhaust setup will clear underneath it. Other then that I think you're going to want to get a custom one done up to fit right.

Good luck.

Hoping someone reading this had this very setup or knows what to do with it, and then I'll ahve a better idea what I'm looking at.

When I get ready to make my order, can I order a X pipe from Kooks or some other sponsor, or will the X pipe they make run right into the Torque Arm?

Or is that the reason for going with the LT1 flat brace?

I've still got 3 months before I get back, so I've still got time to figure things out, but I'm really wanting to have everything waiting for me when I get home.

good luck getting duals to fit with the spohn. Lane will tell you the same. Only way is to get an experienced shop/person to do it where they can build around what you currently have on the car (tq arm, ds loop, etc).

Going with the LT1 flat brace will allow you to run your exhaust underneath the brace a lot better. I would recommend placing the X before the brace if you can. Beyond that, it would be better to buy an X and have a exhaust shop fab one up for you. Any other option might put the exhaust too low under the car.

So buy an X-pipe and then have the exhaust shop fab me up one? I dont understand what you mean their...

I'm guessing that the standard X-pipe that I'd buy from Kooks, or whoever wont split before the TA...yes? no? the pipe will have more ground clearance with the split before the TA, I would think...

finally.. I was 'wanting' to install the headers myself, BUT I'll need custom work to finish it up... other than being L O U D !!!!!! What kind of issues am I looking at driving the car, say 20 miles to the exhaust shop with open headers.

You can buy just the X itself from Dr Gas. Then you can take that to an exhaust shop and they can fab the rest of it up from there. I can't speak for where a premanufactured x-pipe will split. You could also choose to use ovalized pipe, which would help the ground clearance as well if you want to.

Running with open headers will be loud until you get it to the shop. Shouldn't pose too much of a problem beyond that.
