Default Cutouts create undesired sound when closed

I am wanting to get some opinions from others with 3" QTP electric cutouts regarding the quality of the exhaust note while closed. My cutout is located after the merge on my Y-pipe, just before the exhaust bends upwards to go over the axle. I notice that there is a muffled resonance coming from the cutout when it's closed. If I cover the entire cutout with my hand then the sound goes away. It sounds like the plate is really thin. The result is a nasal sort of sound that is louder than the dual dual cat back. Anybody ever run in to this? Any decent solutions?

So the sound was never there before the cutout was installed?

No, the car sounds completely normal when I cap the cutout.

Never noticed that with mine, and I ran a dual dual also at one point.

I didn't notice a change when I had my cut-out/dual dual combo. Unfortunatly I don't remember the brand of cut-out.

The butterfly valve really wants to rattle and leak.
Only some residual shaft torque prevents that, like
rolling the gear motor into bind. Even then you may
want a film of RTV (if the cutout did not already have
a soft seating circle - ones I've seen had a groove
machined in, which looked to have some soft compound
in it).

I put my cutout way at the back where the muffler tips
drown it out when closed, as far as the "chuffing". But
in playing with alternative actuator schemes I have found
ways to make the plate rattle plenty.

Yes, chuffing! Lol, that is the best word to describe it. I'm going to take the cutout off and have a close look at it to see if I can improve the seal.
