Depends if the helix pattern inside the spacer is clockwise or counter clockwise. Counter clockwise it might suck the air out of the intake and spin the engine backwards

I think in Australia the vortecees are threaded the opposite direction to work in conjunction with the coriolis effect

Man, that would suck to get an aussie TB spacer on a north american car. I guess if you got the wrong one, you could simply air-chisel the ID smooth. you could try putting it on backwards, but I think the threads would still be the wrong way...

You simply use MAF spacer and TB spacer that have opposite helixes.

Speaking of straight, absolutely do NOT use a throttle body spacer with the helical swirl and a flow straightener on the MAF! I was on the dyno once and just as I crested 9,600 RPM, the engine twisted. Had to replace my K-member and pry my motor out of the shock tower. The dyno operator knew it instantly, "You didn't tell me you have a throttle body spacer AND an air straightener! What are you, crazy?!?"
