Default Exhaust install: Panhard brace clearance?

I installed a new catback: but I made the fatal error of not carefully observing where the old catback ran....

I seem to have decent clearance all-around, except when I get to the Panhard brace (at least that's what I think I'm looking at.... Once the torrential storm stops, I can snap a photo...). How much clearance do I need? I managed about 1/2", but getting more might be tough...

No: I'm replacing it with the TSP catback.

Maybe you can cut some of the bend that goes over the axle to bring it down some

You can gain more clearance from the panhard brace the same way we do it for installation of the Hooker Blackheart dual exhaust system, which is done by installing spacers between the driver side end of the brace and the body. You will need to replace the 3 removed factory bolts with ones that are long enough to pace through spacers that are about 1" long.

Thanks for chiming in! About how much clearance do you think is acceptable? I have the weight of the car on all 4 wheels, and the brace has about a 1/2" of clearance.

I'll be honest, I didn't get a good look at the brace itself, so I don't know if it moves at all! I was just finishing up with the time I had, and haven't been able to get at it again.

^^This or there are companies that makes braces that dip down and give you some room. Exhaust and the brace shouldn't be moving much, so as long as it doesn't hit it and rattle it should be fine.

I'd rather not start throwing parts at it! There's a ton of adjustability it seems with this particular catback, but I'm just wondering how much finagling I need to put into it..... I just want to drive it!

1/2" of clearance should be fine If the hangers on your exhaust system do a good job of holding the system in place.

I played with it this morning before work, and I'm starting to think part of my problem stems from the passenger side muffler hanger: the rubber bushing seems to have a decent amount of play in it. Of course, it doesn't seem to be a part made anymore...

Only used ones.... I'm guessing none are better than what I have.

I ended up ordering the walker/dynamax bracket. I'll see if that does the trick.

I was able to get more clearance with the Panhard bar as is, but to do so it seems I need to sacrifice some ground clearance.

I figured I'd try a more supportive muffler bracket since the one there is quite sloppy.

I just want to get this thing back on the road!!!

Should have saved money and 6lbs and remove it or like someone said just put a few spacers to bring it down a tad.

I didn't really want to remove something that the factory found needed, especially on a street car.

The spacers I could do, but I would have to find some longer bolts, and a ton of washers. Plus, I can keep adjusting, but I don't know how much clearance I should be shooting for!

I could just run it as it, but I'd rather not put a dent in a new exhaust....

Think I figured out my issue ....

Like the rookie I am, I managed to gain clearance (closer to an inch), by simply pushing the muffler closer to the rear. I spent a good 45 minutes yesterday wrestling with it, when I finally realized by pushing the passenger side exhaust hanger all the way in until it couldn't move anymore that I could gain more space.

Figured I'd take a hit of pride and post my experience in case other idiots like myself ever have trouble....
