Default 390 turbo build best head for motor

Hey guys I'm currently building a 390 boost motor. I'm looking around to see what the best head out there for a 4.030 bore? I saw the tfs 245 heads I read up on them and noticed that they were for 4.125 bore and I turn around see they are for my .030 bore motor. What head is popular that is tried and true for boosted 6.0l's? Prc's dart afr? I'm looking for either a 68/70cc head cathedral port. If I have to go square port so be it but I prefer not to. Thanks

On a boosted motor, a 390 no less, I don't see a reason NOT to go with a square port head. Let that thing EAT!

What's your budget constraints? I mean really a cathedral port is perfectly fine... I don't know if you're "ballin on a budget" or what.

Big single turbo? Centri? Manifold choice, Vic w/ an elbow, stock LS3/7...?

Single turbo 88mm or 91mm holley tunnel ram. I'm looking to spend 2-2800 on heads

AI 280 LS3/A's if sticking with a stock casting... LSA heads are a great stock head to get ported just because of the strength of their casting. PRC makes heads that'll support you as well, give you the thick deck, and won't break the bank.

I wouldn't run the LS3 TFS 255's with their stock valves though. Under higher boost they've been "tuliping" for a lack of better terms, although TEA offers an upgrade right off the bat if you ask for it.

I don't know, I'm just not very high on cathedral ports for FI, but for every one of me, you'll see 10 other opinions.

Yes I see. I think cathedral works well. I mean the guys running 5.3's all day they have no choice but to run them and are doing fine. I'm going to look into the square ports by Al. The PRC heads you're referring to are the cathedral or square port?

I'm looking to run the holley hi ram intake. I'm leaning towards prc 247 cathedral port heads for my 390.

You need to talk to John Bewley at Forced Inductions. He's a hug proponent of cathedral port heads for boosted applications. I've seen several dyno results he's posted that show guys gaining quite a bit of power switching from square ports to cathedral ports. If it were me, I'd look at running a set of TFS 245cc heads from John. He can work them up with specific valves based on your application, as well as the right springs, retainers, etc. While you're at it, let him take care of specing the cam for you too.

Tooley nitrous exhaust port on tfs 245 gets my vote..... Jesse (red third gen) has a proven car/setup with those heads. It's always in the winner's circle

Since when does Bewley work at Forced Inductions?
He's also mainly a cam/turbo guy, and doesn't do much head work IIRC.

My bad on the Forced Induction part. Bewley really thinks highly of the HIP'D Trick Flow 245cc heads on turbo builds. I believe you can get them from him and Tooley.
