Default LS3 intake on 5.3

Been looking for a LS6 intake but it seems most that I find the owners are pretty proud of them. Then I came across these adapters. I can get these adapters and a ls3 intake(friend) cheaper than most ls6 intakes I have found. Looking to build a turbo 5.3 (243 heads). Didn't know if it would be better or worse than a ls6 intake that most people run. Couldn't find any numbers if its better or worse than a ls6. Thank for any info.

I would recommend sticking with the factory LS1 intake. A few guys have are gone into the 7s with the LS1 intake so I would say its not worth the trouble or cost to try and make and LS3 intake work.

Default LS-3 = 90mm

OK, I like the LS-1/2 intake port for a turbo, #1 choice.
I like the LS-3 90mm intake, a 2nd @ low price reason and low hood ready.

The adapters, "Dingo's", allow for the best cost for a great conversion to a high flow manifold.

I think the ls3 flows better than a ported cathedral 102. But with the adaptors I don't know

Default TURBO Intake Manifolds

The supercharged engine can use ALMOST the same size intake/exhaust ports/valves as WITNESSED by the Drake "Offy", the MOST successful Racing Engine of ALL times.

What the Turbosupercharged engine does like is a High Swirl port design.
The other instance is "entry" air AREA, like a "funneled" shape.

This is closer to the larger LS-3, then to the smaller LS-1 port AND LONG Runners.

Spend some time to find a way to increase Exhaust Port/Exhaust Valve area.

Very old post, I know....

But has any testing been done on this? The LS3 looks great on paper. Wondering if its worth the swap from an LS6 to an LS3. I wouldn't mind the larger TB and they seem to perform much better. I haven't ever seen them swapped on a 5.3 though. Feel like I could sell my LS6 and 78mm TB and basically come out close to even with an LS3 and adapter combo.

When looking at this post it almost appears they "fit" around the port "as is".

Hey, that's very helpful, thanks! I wish I could squeeze the TBSS under my hood. But I can't justify cutting up a CF hood. Looking at the LS6 VS TBSS it doesn't look like that LS3 is doing much more.... May be stuck with the LS6 for now.

The dorman LS2 intake matches the TBSS throughout the entire rev range, but I'm not sure I could trust the Dorman with boost.
