Default Exhaust opinions please

Just finished my head/cam swap. I went from mid length headers to TSP 1 7/8 long tubes. My old Y Pipe no long fits. Would you guys either get the TSP Y Pipe and run with the Borla catback I currently have or would you ditch the Y & catback for TSP duals?

If $ allows I'd do the true duals. If tight on funds run the Y

I had a borla catback on my car with LTs and no cats and it sounded good. But In your situation Id clean the catback up and sell it and put that money towards the duals. If you want to wait a bit and save some money over the TSP duals I think I read the other day that Speed Engineering was going to be coming out with a set of duals for our cars soon.

Sell the old exhaust, get true duals. I went from a catback to a custom true duals setup and I will never go with a Y pipe on an LS again.

It sounds MEAN and you gain power, esp with a H/C setup.

I agree with MadMike. If its within your budget and you have no concerns about the sound (not sure if its your daily driver or your only car as it will be considerably louder with the TD's), then I say go with the TD's. As I've gotten older, if i had to DD my car in its current form I would probably run a catback to quiet it down some, and then just get a cutout for occasional track use or when i wanted it to be loud and free up a few HP.

Johnny59,What LT's did you use??

I've been wanting to use hooker long tubes and their true duels but can't find a picture of how low their headers hang down.

I put the TSP true duals on & also will never go back to a y-pipe. What really made me pull the trigger was that they are stainless now. It is of coarse not for everyone. I have always loved loud v8 motors. At full throttle it is beautiful.

I agree on the true duals as well. I did the hooker blackheart system on my 1 7/8th headers and could not be happier. Side note, if you are using cats they system is very quiet. With the stock cats it was at least. Now that I dont have cats, the exhaust note is perfect. Quiet at idle and low RPM cruising but it really comes to life when you get on it.

I plan on ditching the 10 bolt and relocating the torque arm in the next year or so. Would I have any fitment issues running LTs and the Black Heart? I like the idea of running duals to the back.

I got the TSP Duals and love em. The fitment is pretty good but you lose a little bit of ground clearance. You also have to drill through the floorpan behind the seats to mount the new hangers. Not a big deal, and its hidden by the carpet, just figured I'd mention it. I was unaware of it when I bought mine.

I highly recommend the duals. Great sound and flow, they scream at WOT, and if you ever get tired of the sound, you can swap out the bullets for some different mufflers.

If you get them, bend the hangers so the turn downs are at a 45 degree angle from the center of the car. The noise won't be as bad in the car.

I've got kooks 1 7/8" on my car. They don't hang any lower than any other aftermarket long tube. They tuck about as tight as you can get without hitting the floorpan. That is THE lowest point of the exhaust, the Blackheart system tucks as tight as factory if not better. My subframe connectors are the only thing I've ever bottomed out, and my car is lowered around 1.5". I'm rather careful though.

That said, I'm extremely happy with the setup. The car is not nearly as loud as you'd expect for a catless exhaust with headers. Laying the exhaust on the floor and seeing the mufflers being practically straight through I'd thought it'd be ear shattering, but it's actually a bit quieter than my Mustang with stock manifolds/cats and a Corsa catback.

Car sounds terrific, and should sound even better cammed.

Alright I've done a fair amount of research. I think I'm sold on ditching my Borla and getting the Black Heart.

I'm trying to sell my old exhaust on local Craigslist and Fbody Facebook page. What do you guys think I can get out of Bassani mid length headers, y pipe, and adjustable Borla catback? Havnt had much interest and left it open to offers.

Depending on how clean the catback is Id say you could get a fair amount for it. I sold mind in what I considered decent condition without any of the adjustment plates for $300-400 I think, I dont remember. As far as the headers and y pipe youd probably be lucky to get 250-300 out of the pair on a good day based on condition. With all of the other options out there these days for headers its hard to get much out of a used set anymore.
