I don't know of anyone using a lathe to port a throttle body. I used my Dremel and some carbide bits to take the meat off, then a bunch of varying sand paper drums to smooth and clean it up. I kept a junk throttle body plate installed at all times so I didn't screw up the diameter and go to big or wonky.

The main objective in my eyes was to get rid of the hump in the airflow path and smooth the transition to the blade. Some people knife edge the blade.. I didn't really see how that would make flow any better and may actually hurt flow.

Edit: Some parts of my response have been deleted, I'm an idiot.. didn't realize it was an electronic throttle body.

I'll have to dig around my files when I get home from work and find some. If I can't find any I'll go take some quick. It's pretty stuff, I did my 5.3 truck as well.

If you take the blade out make sure you get it in the right position when you reinstall it. The one in my truck needs adjusted, it gets hung up some times, it's annoying.

I tried porting mine with a Rotozip and bit. Seemed to work, no codes and pulled hard. I later upgraded to a 85mm TB.

What's the correct definition for the torx bit to get the blade out, tried mine, have all numbers, but there was no really matching, is it inch maybe or something special?

And did you all shortened the screws backside, there is a thin pin on it?!

Ronald

I chopped the screws down to the size of the shaft on mine. Not sure how much it really helped, but I did it no less.

$75 with filling the hole, shipping 2x from/to Germany and tax???

And where is the fun, giving all my parts to a shop, let them do the work which I can do also, sorry I'm not that type of guy, will build the parts by my own, if possible...

Ronald

Sorry didn't notice your location. Porting/polishing isn't just going to Walmart/Loews and buying a Dremel or " lathe" and some sand paper and have at it. You can mess things up quick if your not careful and don't know what your doing. Plus the right bits can get costly. It just sounded like you didn't know what your doing so I suggested sending it out. $75( didn't know location) is cheaper them buying a new t.b. when your "lathe" burns a hole through it! I also sent mine to new era and it came back perfectly smooth! They also ground down the throttle stop!!
