Default Bullet vs Powerstick

Let me start off by saying I've read a ton of threads and listened to the clips I could find online. Most of the threads are pretty old and some of the clips no longer work.

I have a 2000 Camaro SS, stock exhaust. I'm thinking about adding a bullet style muffler in the I-pipe and cutting out the stock muffler. I'll be keeping the stock manifolds and cats for now. There are tons of threads and lots of opinions on the subject.

I'm looking for a louder then stock exhaust but nothing obnoxious.

I've narrowed my search down to Dynomax bullets, Magnaflow bullets and Classic Chambers Powerstick.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I think they will all be very similar.

by the time you buy the muffler and fab up something to split the exhaust where the muffler used to be, you would be better off just buying a catback.
check the classifieds here or craigslist. I've seen lots of nice shape catbacks going for low prices.

I have powerstixks as true duals and they are loud, some may consider them obnoxious.
Dyno max are almost as loud.
Go with magnalflow if you must get a bullet exhaust.

Also if look at phab exhaust on eBay , full catback with bullet muffler out the back is $200.

Dont waste your time or money. If you want to keep it simple and less expensive, just put an aftermarket factory style muffler on there and call it a day. My old z28 had factory exhaust from manifolds to tips with the exception of a dynomax f body specific muffler installed in place of the factory muffler and it was great for a dd. Nice low rumble at idle and sounded good everywhere else in the rpm range. And it only cost me about 100-150 bucks installed.

I went from a loudmouth II via the previous owner to a powerstick, both sounded EXACTLY the same. To me the volume was fine b/c I have cats but the tone sounded like a Honda. I finally had the entire catback hacked off and thrown in the trash where it belonged (just my opinion). I replaced it with a cheap ($250) catback with a real muffler from Jegs and it is perfect for me. I was told it is an aluminized knockoff of a Dynomax. The moral of my story is don't buy any bullet.

Thanks guys, I'll investigate some 1 in 2 out aftermarket mufflers.

I've seen the flow numbers for bullet mufflers.. do any stock style mufflers flow better then others? Does it matter? Which is the loudest/deepest?

I had a flowmaster on my thirdgen (305 tuned port) but I think it was too quiet... I've also read bad reviews of FM on the LS1 so I'll steer clear.

Only flowmaster that sounds good on fbodies is single chamber 10 series.

I see they have a few options... would you run the 1 to 1 in the I pipe or a 1 to 2 in the stock location?

If the specs are the same on the dynomax and magnaflow you are looking at, they are the same muffler, Ive held both in my hands (I think the same plant makes both). Buy the dynomax for price.

I 'd go with 1 to 1 and dumped before the axle with a turndown.

If you live in a strict emissions area, you should put the muffler in stock location.
1to2 if you want to have exhaust tips .
