Default Need Advice on 6.0

Hello, Im very new to the ls engine stuff. I'm trying to figure out a realistic way to build the 6.0 lq4 engine I have. I bought an engine that when I tore it down looks pretty bad. I really don't want to use any of the internals. A friend of mine has a less than 100 miles stock 6.2L rotating assembly that he would sell for $300. Would that be a smart thing to do? I was thinking of some LS3 heads after that. Any recommendations on how to build the motor would be appreciated. I'm not afraid to save up money to build it right but I don't really want to have a fortune in it either. Thanks

Only real difference is bore size, the LS3 being slightly larger.

Would it be possible to make 600 horse on motor with putting the stock LS3 crank and pistons in it? What would be needed.

600 to the wheels or at the crank? I did an LQ4 bored to .065" over with LS3 rods and pistons, untouched 243 heads, polluter v2 cam and an ls6 intake and Im hoping for somewhere in the neighborhood of 450-500 at the tires. You could probably get closer to 600 at the crank with way better heads, intake and a well optimized cam.

What makes you not want to use the original internals? Clean them up, rering and new bearings and call it a day for way less money. I only went with the LS3 rotating assembly because I already had it on hand.

Mostly just because I had to pound the pistons out of the bores and I wasn't very nice about it. I meant 600 at the crank. Thanks for you input. I appreciate it

Hell, just dingle ball the cylinders, clean up the rotating assembly and throw it back together. It's what the Roadkill guys would do, look how well it works out for them! Haha. I understand what you mean though, the 6.0 that I bored out for LS3 internals wasnt in the greatest condition when I opened it up either. Good luck with whatever route you go.

I called Texas Speed to see what heads they thought would be best. The guy told me he would definitely sonic test the block before boring it. Did you do that?

Honestly ill do a basic 402-408ci motor and put on a set of aftermarket heads such as a AFR or a TFS cathedral head.
Youll clear 600 with ease on pump gas. I have countless articles/builds on the scenario.

I'm starting to agree with you. The more I research the better that route sounds. Where would you look for stroker rotating assembly. I've seen texas speed.

Default All Forged Stroke 4" or 4.1"

Hi 421, the best bet IS the Forged Stroke 4.00" or 4.1" with good cost.

Many can supply this, my "quote" IS $1850.00 FOB.
This is crank, rods, piston, steel rings, bearings AND balanced with 1850 BW.

Would you like my help ?

Lance

I think I might just sell the 6.0 and get a 5.3 then turbo it. Lol. I'm just trying to learn what options I have and how much they cost. Thanks for the input

For the record, yes I had my block sonic tested before having the machine shop bore it out. If you sell the 6.0, where are you located and how much do you want for it?
