Default Best header for the money

Looking for a header that puts out decent power and has decent build quality without breaking the bank like the Kooks,etc.

Are the kooks that expensive because they use 304 stainless over the others?

I am not planning to put a cam in this car anytime soon but I def want to check the sound a bit. is 1 7/8 or 1 3/4 best for a stock car?

Texas Speed and Speed Engineering are good choices. Might as well go with 1 7/8 while you're at it

Best value?

Probably a used set of headers from the classified section that are in good condition.

I agree with this. I got my AR 1 7/8 & catless y-pipe used for $750ish (can't remember the exact price). Def go with 1 7/8 whatever you buy but I think best bang for ur buck is being patient and waiting for some used Kooks, AR, etc. to show up on classifieds/ CL/ eBay.

I'll say that I've seen Pacesetter headers crack on (2) LS1 applications as well as (1) Nissan application. In all three cases the header cracked along the outside wall of the primary bend from the flange. In all three cases the tube had been stretched too thin. The thickness at the crack location was considerably less than 1/16". You get what you pay for. Just an FYI.

This would be "My Opinions", listed from Best Quality/Fitment and Most Expensive to Decent Quality/Fitment and Least Expensive. I have used most of these Headers and Y-Pipes. American Racing has always had the best fitment ahead of Kooks, quality between those two seems to be the same.

1.) American Racing, $+++
2.) Kooks, $+++
3.) Stainless Works, $+++
4.) Dynatech. $++
5.) Texas Speed, $++
6.) Doug Thorley, $++
7.) FlowTech, $+
8.) Pacesetter, $+

$+++ = $1,000+
$++ = $500-$1,000
$+ = Under $500

Speed Engineering 1 7/8. Very nice looking, well built header for the money.

If you are okay with a set of used Im getting ready to remove mine as it has the air and egr hookups on it. Im gonna buy a set without and have them coated so they dont bronze. This isnt gonna happen immediatly but if I had a buyer lined up id probably be a bit more motivated haha
