Default Anyone have a picture on where to jack up engine if doing engine mount

Not oil pan. Is there another jack point beside the oil pan? I'm getting ready to do motor mounts on my 07 Yukon Denali. Don't want to risk pressing the oil pan against the pickup tube and losing oil pressure

You realize the pan isn't stamped steel like a SBC, right? If you bend the pan on a LS into the pickup you probably broke it.

I lifted from the ceiling when I took the pan off mine, but a Engine Hoist should be able to do the same.

I surely wish I had access to one. I'm limited to a jack right now.

I haven't started the job yet. Lol. What about if I jack up from the transmission side right behind the engine? Would that be safer? Enough to get the engine high to get the engine mounts out?

Use 2x4's and make a "H" that sits across the fenders(not on the fender but just inside in the hood area and use a couple heavy Moto tie downs with ratchets to lift/hold it up. I've also built a a-frame out of wood that I rested on the strut towers/strut mounts.

Using a block of wood between a floor jack and the rear edge of the oil pan should be enough to safely hold the engine up while swapping mounts. Using a large flat piece of block helps to distribute the load and shouldn't hurt the pan. You're not jacking the weight of the truck, just the engine once the mounts are loosened.

Stock pans are cast aluminum and pretty much flat on the bottom. They won't bend like the old stamped steel ones. I wouldn't use a bottle jack by itself because you could crack the pan if you focus the pressure on a small area, but use a block across the pan to distribute the load. I would go as far forward as possible and definately not jack from behind the engine. The transmission support will hold the rear, you just need to support the front.

You could also use a large piece of pipe across the strut towers with some straps or chain around the headers or the like.

fark some dodgy ideas goin on in here. get yourself a 2x4, cut it to the width of the sump and stick it across the flat bottom right at the front and jack her up. youll never break a stock sump if you do it this way

I would NOT attempt to lift the engine by the exhaust headers. The flange bolts are weak enough as it is.

I've done this with a floor jack under the balancer-protected with a block of wood. Just lift enough to do the job, don't pick up the entire front end.

I just used a low-pro floor jack and a piece of 2x6 under the oil pan toward the rear when I swapped motor mounts..
