Default LS1 to LS6 intake

. Bought a LS6 intake from MrBig on here (transaction was smooth). Intake has a little oil crude on the ports, nothing that can't be cleaned.
Wanted to know if I take the MAP sensor off the back, can I just submerge it in hot soapy water? Idk how dirty the inside is but I imagine it's not the cleanest. Also, I bought a EGR delete plates for my manifolds. The other question was if I need to replace the valley cover or can I use the stock one with the lines that are there now? Anybody share differences of using stock valley pan vs swapping for LS6 and grinding on the engine block?

Well your going to get a hundred different answers on this one .But to answer your question soapy water is not going to do it. If you plan on cleaning Alot of parts, look at building your own Sonic parts washer Short of that the best household degreaser is pine-sol , submerge in plastic tote overnight. Then take to the carwash spraying in the runners and plenum rinse and repeat. Dry out with compressed air. There are other degreaser you can buy at the parts store like the orange , the green and the purple.I don't use them . Pine-sol works great and is cheap and it will not stain or discolor nylon 66 or aluminum.

I cleaned my intake with Dawn and warm water and a real long scrub brush. I think I bought a toilet brush with a long handle. Worked fine.

You can't use the old LS1 coolant lines Without modification to the lines and or the bottom webbing of the LS6 intake, reguardlless which valley cover you use. There are many threads here on tech on details on how to clearance the bottom of LS6 if want to keep the old lines. Easy way is just get block offs for rear and crossover for the front. The LS6 valley is a good piece , but make sure you get the 2nd design. If you're going to be be doing Alot of wot pulls and driving it hard I would just run a good catch can tho.

Hmm... I may consider just trying the method of cutting the fins on the bottom. I want to be able to use the current parts if it's not necessary to change.
Questions:
1. What benefits of running ls6 pcv lines and ls6 valley cover?
2. Is it recommended to go ahead and replace the knock sensure while I'm there?
3. (NOOB question) What exactly does a catch can do that benefits better than the stock system?

Actually you are still better off running all four steam lines, but just run them over the top instead of under the manifold. Many here will agree to the benefits of running all four lines.

Just use your LS1 steam lines and remove webbing on bottom of manifold. Works perfect.

I appreciate all the replies for this, I think I'm going to go with using the stock lines, depends on how much trouble it is lining it up under the intake. Still waiting on the block off plates for my exhaust manifolds, hopefully the weather doesn't drop too quick within the next few weeks

You can flatten the coolant lines slightly so that they clear the manifold. That's what I did, and it worked well. I got to keep my 4 corner cooling and the intake webbing.

I picked up the fel-pro gaskets for the ports and for the valley cover. The intake has this big plug where the map sensor goes( all sensors removed ).... i want to submerge it in some gojo and hot water (big storage tub) and use a toilet brush to clean it. This elbow/plug..... does it need to be pulled too? I understand that once the plug is pulled there's just a big hole there but the plugs no good cause the tabs break off.. is this okay to get wet as long as I dry it real good?
