Engine Change on Truck - Pull Trans Too?

Engine Change on Truck - Pull Trans Too? I am going to be putting a motor in my 2000 Silverado 4wd. I changed the trans on it last year - Performabuilt level 2 - as well as the TC. What a monumental pain in the *** in general it was. I'm thinking about pulling the motor and trans as one unit so I can put them back together as unit and put back in as one unit. Am I crazy?

Yeah, swapping that trans was a bear. Dunno if it's just because we were on our backs but it downright sucked. Took the better part of two days. 4wd has more **** going on the 2wd so that doesn't help.
But if your just changing engine just unbolt trans and leave it sitting on a jack. What 6 bolts and 3 tc bolts. Leave drive shafts and crossmember in place. I would even leave dipstick and lines in place

Those 6 bolts and 3 tc bolts were a motherfkr for me to get to is all. With the trans staying in I'm going ot have to mess with them twice - once out and once in. And I'm wondering how tough it's gonna be to get the everything lined up and back together.
Driveshafts and crossmember are easy. The hard part about pulling the trans is the wiring and the transfer case isn't fun either. This last trans swap was the first time I did something like this on a "modern" vehicle. Cant say that I liked it much.

I just did the trans on my 04 2500hd 4x4, I have a lift but pulled most of the bellhousing bolts through the sides with the inner wheel liners removed. Im not sure if the hd's have more clearance then the half tons in those areas.
