Default Oil Cooler Block-off leaking again

Hello, I replaced the gasket on my oil cooler block-off with the standard Felpro gasket and it leaked more than the one i took off. Then i bought one of those ICT billet block-offs with the O-ring seal and 1/8 NPT port and it started leaking after a few startups in the garage. If anybody have any experience with this can you please share how you stopped this annoying oil leak. I'm using a F Body oil pan on a iron LQ9.

I’ve seen these leak, mostly from over tightening the bolts. It warps the block off plate, which is flimsy to start with. Even the aftermarket plates are flimsy, and leak. I have a glass surface plate, that’s flat. I lay a 800 grit sandpaper sheet on it, with cutting fluid on it, and with mounting surface downward, gently move the plate in a figure 8 pattern, for 20 seconds or so. Light pressure. Do not push down hard. New gasket install, and snug the bolts, plus 1/4 turn. Start the engine and watch for leakage. If it still leaks, snug each bolt until leak stops. Done.

Check to see if both surfaces are flat.

Those bolts only get 89 or 106in/lbs IIRC.

I would use a generous coating of RTV the next time you put the plate back on.

Definitely...at least 1/2 the tube.

Make sure the bolt holes aren't stripped. Might have to Heli-Coil them.

Update:
The oil drip was fixed by trash-canning the ICT blockoff plate for a Earl's Preformance plate. The ICT plate O-ring was actually going across the oil port opening and not sealing.

Seems like a pattern with ICT stuff. More about looks than correct function.
