Default LSX intake too big....

For a ported stock heads and a cam car? My buddy has all the same mods that I have with the exception of the intake. He has an LSX and I have an LS6. He runs in the 13's and I run low 12's occasional 11's.

I had my first big stroker engine back in 2002...see sig below. I remember everyone (back then) saying how high flow intakes and high flow headers were too much for smaller engines.....turns out to be BULLSHIT. People even told me to not use too big of headers and the 102mm intakes that were out back then.

Go for the highest flowing intake, TB, headers and exhaust as you can get. Even a stock cube engine is DYING for more air. Put some 2" LT headers on it also......pass on the 1-7/8" LT headers.....go right to 2".

Even though a K&N filter is complete garbage and bad for an engine....they show dyno gains because the engine can breath better. But also provide much less engine protection from smaller particles that get sucked into the engine all day long. I know people that remove their air filter to run the 1/4 mile, they absolutely get more power......NOT recommended of course....but making the point that even a stock engine is NOWHERE near getting its proper amount of air.

Also, when you go more cubes in the future, you won't have to spend more cash on those upgrades, you will already have them ready to go.

Remember bigger, higher flowing and more efficient are not the same thing. Better flow is difficult to argue, I completely agree that better flow is good for these motors but going with a massive intake because that flow benches better is not always the answer. In a scenario like this, You might see a fast 102 perform better on a dyno as far as peak HP goes. When you actually load the motor your usable TQ and HP are generally in and RPM range that experienced a loss rather than a gain. The LS6 intake is one of the best cathedral intakes on the market for usable power on a stock cube motor.

Get a AEM dry flow filter. IMO a LS6 or Fast 92 is a better street intake. The 102 has shorter runners and should lose torque below 2500 rpm.
