Have issue filling gas tank
So somehow between me rebuilding my motor and the car sitting for about 10 months, my gas tank vent decided to somehow clog itself. Literally in order to fill up my tank I have to have the nozzle just barely into the filler tube, and i have to have it come out in damn near a trickle.
I know that to change the charcoal vent the gas tank has to come out. I don't have time for that for a while but I still want to drive the car. My question is this, can I disconnect the line going to the evap solenoid under the hood while filling and use that as a vent? Obviously reconnect when I'm done.

I bet your vent tube is plugged/pinched......

Sometimes it's inside the main tube.

I couldn't find a operational manual but if you look at this picture you will see a white round valve on the top of the tank with a X next to it. I believe this is the VENT-ROLL OVER valve. If you follow the hose it runs down to a white plastic vent filter under your car. I believe how this works is when you start filling the tank air pressure builds and the white round valve opens to let air pressure out through the vent filter so fuel can enter. Now this is only a guess but maybe it will help you looking at the picture. Good Luck

I think honestly my issue stems from the charcoal canister. Maaaybe that vent that G Atsma mentioned, but from what I've read it's commonly the canister. I'll check that vent line, but I'm starting to think I might have to drop the tank.
What really kills me is that this happened while the car was just sitting. I had the motor out and it just sat for 10 months. Only thing I did to the fuel tank was cut a trap door and install a hotwire kit for the pump.

OK, if it was filling OK before, and you haven't messed with the filler tube or vent, it has to be something else.

In trucks it's usually the canister; just getting plugged up with the funk of the ages. I'd be inclined to suspect that in your car as well. Sometimes it's that valve (vent valve?) right next to it, same problem just in a different place. Just changed both of those things out in my 04 Av not too long ago for the same reason... it was taking me like 15 minutes to put gas in it. Works GREAT now, just like a normal car or something.
