Default New Intake tract...

So right now I'm running an FTP 104 with a TSP 100mm MAF and frankly... I hate the FTP lid. It rubs my hood like crazy, fits poorly, has cracked in numerous spots, I could go on and on. Has anyone used or made anything that didn't require major modifications (such as hacking the hell out of the core support)?

I know some people have done piping down to the nostrils in the center of the bumper, but I know 4" piping is definitely requiring some hefty mods. What about 2.5" piping, but double? At this point I'm still larger than the smallest part of the intake tract, so there shouldn't be a restriction, add in sealing it to the bumper nostrils and it's now a ram air. Thoughts?

A guy on here took a Volant intake box and put in a c6 filter in place of the standard Volant filter setup and cut open the box for the bigger outlet of the filter. Then mated it up to his 102mm throttle body. Not sure what hood clearance would be like but I know that Volant boxes fit all styles of 4th gen ls1 car hoods.

Yes.

I'll take a look at the Vette intake and see if I can mod it to fit

Could always try to fab something up with Spectre tubing.

I thought of doing some tubing. Something like running it off to the drivers side and down underneath the fuse boxes to where the air pump used to be. The only thing I don't like is the length of the tube creating a fairly hefty restriction by comparison to the factory lid setup.

I did find that volant/c6 filter setup. I like that idea a lot actually, I just need to find a way to make it work with my MAF.

Are you deadset on using the MAF? Would make things a lot easier and you could get a few bucks back on the new setup.

Considering the car is in a place that will see fairly large temperature shifts throughout the year (30's in the winter, 110 in the summer) and it's daily driven.. I figured MAF was the best way to go.

I found another website that sells a stainless steel lid... Was going to try and talk to them about fitment and such. I'd post it here but non-sponsor links and all

I daily drove my old truck speed density and it had possibly even bigger temp swings than you experience because there were a few days that were below 0 actual temp and the AFR swing was like .1-.3 at the most without making any changes. And I tuned it in the spring I believe in the mid 60s-70s. Now with a bigger cam it might change a little more but I don't think a whole lot. As long as your tuner started SD before he dialed in the MAF tables I think it should be fine.

Well I had plans on getting it retuned anyway. Previous tuner half-assed it. So I might just do the new filter/tube and get it tuned right after.
