Default Goodbye Flowmaster Hello Hooker!!

I finally broke down and ordered the Hooker catback this morning, should be here Fri. I hope it isn't too quiet. If the flow is as bad as everyone says on the Fowmaster maybe I will actually feel a bit of a performance increase. I've never heard a LS1 with the Hooker in person, I hope I'm not dissapointed. Once it is bolted up I'll be sure to post my impressions.

with your set up it will still be quiet at idle, but as the rpms go up, so will the decibels but they will increase witha purpose i like to say. it sounds great. it will be noticebly less loud inside the car vs flowdisaster, but when it seems too quiet, have a friend drive it while you drive their car and drive behind it. the sound is unreal! youll love it and appreciate it more then.

besides if its not loud enough add a cut out. some exhaust goes trhough the catback still giving the cut out a tone. if you want some fun sound clips pm me.

I know it sucks, but I still love my crappy cheap Flowmaster. $200 the day after I bought my car as a quick fix, and haven't had the heart to change it out yet.

Another happy Hooker owner here. Quiet at idle, but roars to life once you stomp on it.

Traitor! Viva la Flowmaster and trailer parks across the south!

Seriously, exhaust is a personal thing. The Hooker is "mellow", while the Flowmaster is more "slap you in the face". I personally liked the latter sound. I switched from the coveted Magnaflow to the Flowmaster cat-back. At the track I experienced no loss in power....flow numbers be damned!! (I bet that will get a rise from at least one person )

Good luck with your choice. If it makes you happy, it's the right exhaust decision!

Well, got it all bolted up this afternoon. It is a bit quieter on startup and at idle than the Flow. Slow acceleration and cruising may be a tid bit quieter, but WOT and aggressive driving kicks ***!! My friend that helped me bolt it on went with me for the first ride and said it sounded wicked as hell. We both agreed that even at 91 degrees and the humidity being pathetic, that it seemed to pull very hard. I'm not going to say that it is a Huge diff, but it seemed noticeable to us anyway. The tips look great and I'm overall very happy with my choice.

The Hooker catback is one of the most popular exhausts for a reason. FYI, the Flowmaster catback flows at ~360cfm while the Hooker catback flows at ~1000cfm, big difference.

And what does Flowmaster flow according to Summit? Do you have a link to this info?

I hear ya man...I'm limpin around town with 492rwhp NA through my weak-kneed Flowmaster. I don't have the heart to take it off. True duals would be nice.

Good job on the exhaust Brian...when do I get to hear it?

Hopefully the 20th at beech bend. I just need to get this O2 sensor and TM BS taken care of. TM is so bad that it will kick in as low as 1/2 throttle sometimes, and it is so darn unpredictable, not good for ETs.

Check out page 71 of the July-August Summit Racing catalog for the Hooker Aerochamber flow numbers. I don't see any flow numbers for the Flowmaster.
