Default Need help with truck alternator mod

I need to replace my alternator in my 02 TA.

A friend was going to install it for me and suggested that I get the ACDelco 334-2529 truck alternator, but he completely sold me out and now I'm stuck, because I sure as heck, don't know anything about the truck alternator mod.

Is there anything done different, when using the truck alternator, or is everything the same?

This is the alternator I bought

It should bolt right up but the pulley may be farther away than an ls1 alternator requiring a belt about an inch longer.

Low, as opposed to what? It's the 145a version.

ur best bet is an eBay 4 pin used alt. pooter said he always had bad luck with 99.9 percent if not 100 percent of the remans regardless of brand.

calling it a truck alt mod doesn't make any sense to me since ur not modding anything, ur literally removing the alt and putting the truck one in. done on 2 different cars, it just fits more snug and didn't require a new belt

I bought the 335-1092 see here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...67826&jsn=1794

I can confirm this was plug and play for my 2000 camaro. The 335-1092 is for the escalades that were 2002 and earlier.

The 334-2529A is for trucks that are newer than 2003. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...17150&jsn=1790

They appear to both be 4 pin and 145 amp.The only difference is the location of the plug which appear to be at a different clocked location. I don't see why yours wouldnt work. Pooter's thread notes to use the 2003-2004 They both are of the AD244 family.

Here is pooter's old thread
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ilure-s-3.html

Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions

Ive been a fan of DB Alternators. Good prices and the quality seems good and they come in all sorts of outputs.
