Default 98 camaro Y-pipe help

Hello everyone,
I have a 98 camaro z28 with longtube headers from ebay. I bought a speed engineering y-pipe but the drivers side has no hope of ever being usable. No exhaust shop wanted to touch it as said the steel was too thin to weld and that it was junk. Ground clearance is dreadful and is not drivable. Car is lowered on strano springs with koni shocks all around. Has anyone tried the tsp y-pipe with ebay headers? I tried contacting tsp but did not hear back from them. Motor is on poly mounts and I have a spohn torque arm mounted to the transmission. I found one shop that said he could do a custom y for around 500 plus tax. The tsp will cost around 350 or so. My father tried adjusting the y up a bit more as he is a welder by trade. It did help but the drivers side needs some different bends. If I had access to a pipe supplier in Canada I might be able to get him to fix it. If anyone has any ideas for solutions I would love to hear them. I am thinking about adding some cats as well as the smell is doing nothing for me. If anyone has the part number for the magnaflow catalytic convertors it would be appreciated.

I will try taking the car to another garage in Ontario that does custom work to see what they can do. If anyone is in the province and has suggestions I am open to that as well as my father has a car trailer.

the steel is too thin on the headers or the speed y pipe? usually the aftermarket y pipes are built just for their headers and most places state that my guess is the tsp one will not work for you as well.

I bought a TSP Y pipe and then the shop had to chop it up a bit to make it fit my pacesetter headers. I would just get a custom one made so that ground clearance issues are kept to a minimum.

My TSP Y pipe fit my SE headers. I cut an inch off each side where it mounts to the headers but only because I wanted it to clear my MWC torque arm. Has excellent ground clearance. The SE Y pipe can be welded no problem, but I wouldn't use it because it's ground clearance is worse than the TSP.

Sell the headers and y pipe and get name brand stuff. Problems solved. My tsp headers and y pipe fit amazingly well. Had to modify a bit to install y pipe onto hooker intermediate pipe but this was to be expected.

It is definitely a mistake I regret. The speed engineering ypipe was too thin for 3 exhaust shops to touch. They were afraid they would blow through it. My father was able to weld it but the driver's side bend is just poor. You can see the difference between the drivers side and the speed engineering ypipe. I will be taking it to another shop on friday. The guy supposedly does nice custom work. I was hoping someone had good luck with the tsp and the ebay headers as it would be the most economical but oh well.

The new TSP ypipes fit pretty good. It all depends on how long the collectors are on your headers. Not all header collectors are the same length.. The TSP headers are nice quality. Maybe you should just bite the bullet and get the TSP headers and Ypipe and know it all fits right.

I was in that same position, so I kept the SE headers and went with the TSP Y. It was just easier to cut off an inch on the Y and save myself the hassle of selling the SE headers and losing money.

I have no problem cutting parts, its more the bends I cannot do anything with. There is an exhaust shop near me that flared some pipe for cheap when I tried adjusting the se y-pipe. Are you lowered? How much clearance did you end up with?
