CNC heads vs more gear
In a M6 car with 10 bolt 3.90 or 4.10 are both going to fragile compared to the same gears in a 8.8 or 9 inch etc. . My H&C M6 TA ran 4.10's for 125,000 + miles they never broke but sounded like a jet engine with whine when I got a new 8.8 rear end.
Get a good quality gear regardless of if they are 3.90's or 4.10's

4.10 = 10 & 41, nominal pinion dia 1.860"
Any difference in strength is minimal at most. Still a pinion that's too tiny to stand up to real stress.
Regardless, I think more gear will give more fun than more heads, even if there's more risk of failure. Fun vs risk.

Makes sense but I am not putting as much into this car as I had once hoped and just want it to be more fun on the cheap for now. I was planning on a full out h/c/I build with an s60 just a little over a year ago but life happened and I'm not that serious about dropping so much coin in this car. I know the 10 bolt is weak and this may very well be money wasted but for now I'm good with it.
I think we used Motives but that was 18 years ago. There's an old Motive Gear box my garage my stock 3.42's were in. Any of the fine LS1Tech vendors should be able to tell you who has the best quality gears today.
I rolled into launching by slipping the clutch no dumps. Dumps will kill the 10 bolt quickly as mentioned.
Does you car has the stock clutch or aftermarket?

Later a 9 inch is etc as other's mentioned is a nice upgrade.I eventually went with a Hawk's 8.8 and have been happy with it.
