I read tons of post seems to be no clear answer if you can or cant , I have pulled the factory sleeves and taped it already,really wanted to run my after market temp gauge off the rear port and block the forward one. My after market thermostat has holes in the plate would that allow for enough flow if its needed to get warm water to the back of the thermostat to avoid it from opening late ,thanks ahead for any replies.
I've ran them looped and blocked and never had any issues either way. Others have said they had issues with them blocked but it really shouldn't be an issue after the thermostat opens. The holes in that thermostat should help the thermostat see some flow to help it open sooner.

The main thing I noticed is the system stays at a more constant temp when it has some water flow, without it the temps seem to spike up and down more. YMMV
