Problem With 92MM Throttle Body On Amazon or Ebay I bought one of the 92MM throttle bodies off Amazon for my TBSS intake swap. I was having surging idle issues where the RPM's would climb from my desired idle of 850 up to 1150 or so, then a few seconds later it would go back down to 850, then repeat, over and over and over... Scanning it with HP tuners I could see that the idle air counts were ZERO. I suspected a vacuum leak. Today I smoked the intake and immediately see that the IAC motor has a pretty severe leak where it bolts to the TB. I pulled that IAC off and there is NO O-RING or GASKET between the IAC and the TB.... Just one more thing for you guys to check if you buy one of these. Since I had to pull the IAC anyways, I put back the GM IAC from my old 78MM throttle body along with a new O-ring. Did not want to risk a China IAC failing on me down the line.
The TB I bought is the FI TECH unit. I paid $180 + tax + shipping. I could have gotten the same one for $67 just without the FI TECH logo. I thought that paying more would get me a higher quality part. That back fired in my face as most CHINA trash does. Good luck with your modding peeps!

Agreed definitely send that turd TB back.
I have a WARR Performance 92mm TB on my 02 Z28. The WARR is equal quality to the 92mm Nick Williams on my 91 RS for about half the price. The WARR TB requires you to reuse your old sensors or buy new one. WARR Performance maybe worth a look.

you paid too much, ive used a few of the 90-100$ ebay ones and only the first one i tried needed mods. after that they show up and go right on no problem.

The Fi tech unit is no good. You should have put that it was a fi tech unit in your title.
A friend of mine bought one to save money...
As it heated up, the blade would stick on it. I Had to smooth it out so the blade wouldn't catch and stick. The IAC also took a dump on him so we replaced with the original OEM 200K mile unit and it worked fine.

My throttle body is dead as a result of a destroyed shaft. The shaft was destroyed during an attempt to fix the vacuum leak at the return spring/cable side of the throttle body. There is NO SEAL in that location to prevent the vacuum leak. I sent 98 T/A a message about his throttle body as I would like to see if resolving that leak will allow these TB's to work as designed.

I've used several brands of throttle bodies and one thing I found, Several name brands are the exact same throttle body with the name and price tag on them being the only difference. Literally all machine surfaces are identical as are the parts they are assembled with. Obviously there are some that aren't cheap China products but never judge them by price alone.
