Default 2000 pro street trans am

I have been working on a little project for 9 years. Finally got to a point where I am lost as to what is going wrong. I have a 427 with a f1x procharger. Running on e85. Can’t seem to keep engine cool. I drove down the road for 20 miles and temp got to 230. Way too hot for my liking. I am running a Burkhardt bumper support with a double pass afco radiator. Meziere 55gpm pump. When I questioned the radiator they said they had plenty on the street with no problem. I haven’t been able to dyno tune her since I found out I need an intercooler for the street. Somehow talking to my engine builder it must have gotten lost in translation that I wanted a street car. Wondering if the engine is getting warm because of the high intake air temps. Also I changed the map sensor to 5 bar. I haven’t been able to tune the file to a 5 bar sensor, since I was waiting to have the tuning guy do it. Could that also be making the car run lean and make it run hot? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What CFM does that fan pull? That shroud really isn't letting any air pass thru unless it goes directly thru the radiator.

Could need something like this: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Fan-S...saArtcEALw_wcB

It also isn't even ducted in the front so the air will find the least path of resistance which isn't helping your cause.

If you haven't used a vacuum pump to get the air out of the cooling system I would get one of these: https://www.harborfreight.com/coolin...kit-64985.html

In my cars I run 90% distilled water, redline water wetter (or similar) and about a cup of antifreeze for anticorrosion purposes.

Maybe you need a deflector to kick air up into the radiator.

I’m not an expert, but the sheet metal that the fan mounts to looks like it obstructs about half of the radiator’s surface are. It seems like you could use 2” wide bars to mount the fan and open it up. Like previously mentioned, it looks like you could install a deflector to push air into the radiator. I wonder if you could install a pusher fan on the other side of the radiator to help. Cool car!

Are you using a Holley ECU?

Are you running a factory chin spoiler?

Thank you for the responses. I think the fan only has 1200 cfm. Definitely now that i am looking into it i should get a larger cfm fan. I will also try and vac the system out again. Maybe it didnt get out from before. Also i am not running a thermostat. I have read back and forth about why and why not to. Any real world saying i should install one?

I have been looking into a deflector to bring air up to the radiator as well.
also I am running a Holley terminator max. Have fan kicking in at 180, but then it never shuts off. Haven’t felt comfortable driving it. Ordered a larger fan and I will test that after it comes in.

What compression is the motor? How much boost? Shouldn’t *NEED* an intercooler with E85.I don't run intercoolers on several of my boosted E85 cars to 20lbs or so.

Vacuum filling it as mentioned above is the #1 thing to do.

You want the shroud. You can make a few windows in it with some rubber “flappers” on it that open when cruising and close when stopped. Or just install a great fan and you’ll likely be fine.

The best deal out right now that I’ve seen is the brushless silverado fan paired with a burn down garage mounting kit. (which is optional) Impossible to beat those flow numbers for the $ with aftermarket fans. Around 9000CFM wide open.

I'm E85, a to a intercooler, turbo, 5.3.

I am not running a thermostat. I am running a block off from JayWire, I'm running a stock 5th gen water pump:

I'm running a Taurus/Contour fan, just have the high speed wired up:

How I fixed mine:
-I always had enough fan, but had relay issues, went to a TE 75 amp one, now fine
-Jay built me a shroud and added the block off
-I always gravity bled the system, funnel kit from Amazon, jacked up nose
-Your tuner might need to add timing to idle and cruise, I was told that turbo combos burn lazy... maybe blower setups too

You have a link to your fan?

When I had the engine built and dyno’d by the builder he also said I didn’t need to put an intercooler on it. But now when I took her to the tuner he said he wouldn’t tune a street car without one. But said I could go meth. But that doesn’t help driving down the street and no boost. Still going to be warm iats. F1x procharger and he said it was 25#. 8.6 compression. You drive your e85 without an intercooler on the street? He said it’s fine if I only want to run it down the strip for a 1/4 mile at a time and let it cool.

You can run E85 no intercooler, it will run hotter IATs obviously.

Installed 1860 cfm fan from spal. Checked coolant and installed a bleeder air release also on steam line to radiator. No air in system. Driving down the road it gets to 210. Much better. When I stop and idle the temps come right down. Trying to make an air dam to funnel air towards radiator and install the rubber flaps from speedway next. Since I haven’t had her officially tuned is it possible that she is running hotter because it’s getting lean?

Satera tuning is who I have been talking too. Live in northern Illinois. Do you know anyone else that would tune in this area? I have used speed inc a long time ago.

(Jeremy) Satera is a friend and is very smart, tell him I said hi.

Others would be Speed Inc., Straightline, NextGen and they have dynos. I know a good remote tuner (remotes into your laptop), Andrew Borodin.

You need to reinstall the air damn that was under your factory core support. It creates a low pressure area that makes air go up and into your radiator. There's a reason GM put them on our cars.
