Default Terrible Header Install..... Need Major Help.

Alright... a few days ago we started installing my flowtechs and ran into some problems with the steering shaft. So we finally got that off and went to install the header and all went well until we went to torque the header bolts (I was using the stock one's) when the first header bolt on the driver side broke off in the head. All went well with the driver side header with that exception. I cant even get the damn car high enough to do the passenger side header, the fitment it terrible. But, how should i go about getting that bolt out? Should i just be conssidering new heads, as it will cost about the same? Any suggestions/tips on how to get the passenger side header to go into place?
Thanks for the help.

You'll probably have to pull the header off and use an easy out. It's really tight in there but should be doable. For the passenger side you're gonna need to get the car up as high as possible.

Exactly as the other guys said.

Curious, what were you torquing the header bolts to? I don't see how they broke, the factory torque spec is like 19ft/lbs.

Most likely had the bolt in crooked and when it started crossthreading yanked the head off.

This is the EXACT reason I bought Stage 8s; I would recommend new bolts regardless.

Well, if you try the easy out method DO NOT buy the great necks from Autozone. They are the biggest POS I have ever seen. They WILL break off inside the bolt leaving you more screwed than before. If there is any bolt sticking out at all take a wrench and drive it on there, if it won't break free, and the wrench slips, weld that sombitch to it and get it out. Hope this helps.

I broke the header bolts on my V6. Just one, but it was cause I installed it and removed it like 3 times in a row. was just casually turning it in and it broke. - I liked my Mac install from the top was so easy =)

You might be able to weld a stud on the end of the broken bolt and use a nut to tighten the header. I dont know how much of the broken bolt is visible. Good luck

we were at about 17 lbs when it broke... i believe. I got the header back off the car and found that the bold is flush against the side of the head.

to install the passenger side header, be sure to get the car up on 4 jackstands, up to the highest notch. That should be plenty of room for headers...

Had the same prob with my Pacesetter on the passanger side. I put 8 inches of 2x4's under the back tires and then lifted the front up and was able to get it high enough for the clearence I needed.
