Default Mac Mids Installed. Problems!!!

i installed the mac mids with ORY and when i pulled out of the garage i couldn't turn the steering wheel. what the hell, the steering shaft is hitting the driver header. has anyone else had this problem with there macs. oh yea it sounds like crap with a flowmaster at acceleration but at full blast it doesn't sound bad. what muffler sounds good with this setup. and i noticed a big power drop, its a dog of the line now.

The reason it sounds like crap is because you have an ory with no cats most likely. To fix this you are going to need to add a bullit resonator into the I-pipe to cancel some of the rasp. The real solution is to ditch the y-pipe and buy an xpipe and run true dual exhaust. As for the steering shaft hitting the header, I really have no experience there.

I intalled my Macs also didnt have any problems with the steering as far as being raspy thats jsut something you have to deal with. I have a SLP dual dual and it sounds good and I also have Metallic Cats, its still raspy.

I had the steering knuckle rub on my primary tubes. Loosen the three bolts that hold the steering column to the firewall and move it away from the header and retighten. You may also have to grind down the bolt length and bolt head a little bit, but don't go too far.

Drop in power is probably from false knock....a result of the header banging on the steering linkage.

My MACs fit excellent and I have never heard of any with fitment problems until today. As for the sound, try replacing the y-pipe collector with the Flowmaster 2.5" to 3" collector and then swap to a Hooker cat-back. The 80 Series Flowmaster cat-back is going to restrict your power pretty bad anyway, so just junk it.
Almost every y-pipe on the market needs to be modified to be decent, as the collector sucks on plenty of them.

Definitely sounds like false knock retard...those knock sensors are very sensitive...fix the banging/rubbing problem at the steering knuckle before deciding they are crappy....I picked up 22 rwhp from mine untuned.

I would call the sponsor who sold them to you and let them know your set may have been bent during shipping cuz it doesn't fit right.

sounds like the knuckle is installed 180* off. It's bending the wrong way I guess.

Am I the only one wondering how you noticed the power drop if you can't turn the steering wheel? I know drag racing is a staight line, but come on now.......

Me too. I just envisioned "full blast" and "couldn't turn the steering wheel" and the results were not pretty.
