Default Best spark plugs for the LS1?

I recently bought some plugs for my car. I didn’t do any research before I did so I guess I might have just thrown my money away. I bought the Splitfire plugs for about 5 dollars a pop. I looked up some other plugs today just for the hell of it & I see there are a lot more to choose from online than at the local parts stores. So I wonder what are the best plugs that I could put in next time I change them out?

I just bought some NGK TR55's, that seems to be the consensus to the "best" plug for N/A cars

The question then is, TR55 in the Iridium or regular copper?

I just bought them yesterday, so I should know this. I believe they said that they were copper. Oh, get them from Oreilly's, a set of 8 only cost me 12.90.

If you want to gap them that low, the TR5 is the better choice. It's the same heat range as the TR55, but it comes with a gap of .039, so you don't need to change it by as much. Going from .059 (stock gap of the TR55) down to .045 is not recommended by NGK. They generally say to go no more than .008 to .010 change, as it'll make the electrode to ground relationship not so perfect anymore.

PS-that's my old Formula in your avatar.

They suck! The platinum comes off them easily and their gaps open up too much too quickly. I just pulled out the stock plugs in my C5 and they had under 33k on them and they were in terrible shape. They were causing 7 degrees of KR! Changing to fresh plugs (in my case NGK TR6s) put my KR back to zero.

I'm going with TR-55 iridiums this go 'round. They should perform about as well as copper plugs while having much better longevity.....that's the idea anyway. We'll see.
