Default My SSRA lives again!

The SSRA should implement a mechanical fastener which secures the top half to the bottom half.

As much as I've bitched about the quality of the SSRA, I do acknowledge it is an effective mod which has helped net me some pretty decent MPH traps in the past.

A few months ago, on a 4500k clutch dump launch, my SSRA bottom half decided it wasn't going down the track with the rest of the car. 3600lbs of car totally fought with the SSRA bottom half, and decided it was gonna come along for the first 1/8th mile, dragged and crushed.
So, I chucked the crushed bottom half in my trunk and it remained there 'till today.
Track staff with the belligerent bottom half:

So, after a bit of plastic weld, some black duct tape, 2 extra screws (I fastened the top half to the bottom half by drilling in two pilot holes for some long screws that now secure top to bottom), and some more duct tape, along with longer lower/bumper mounting screws, behold my Frankenstein SSRA. It's ALLIIVE!

It's pretty damn secure. It's not making any escape attempts. If it does, it's gonna take half my bumper with it now.

I know you daily drive your car with the SSRA... how quickly does your filter get dirty? And any concerns about rain water finding it's way in there? I'm looking for some more effective bolt ons to compliment what I already have.

The RT ram air kit turned my 3rd Gen into a street sweeper, collected every little bit of dirt, leaves, bugs, etc. It didn't help my ET any either, though it might have helped more if I trapped more than 103 MPH.

That is the most terrible thing I have ever seen. Why in the world did you put that "thing" back on your car?

It's ugly, but luckily, all the ugliness is hidden from view. You can't see it.
Sure enough, went to the track last night and I gained back 1mph.
It works.

Who cares if its ugly? If it works, and its secure I would pimp it. Its not like it adds to the appearance of the car either way. Good job Carlos

I just bought mine and I'm gonna be putting the extra screws to tie the upper and lower portion together. The only thing holding the lower peice in is the friction from jamming it into the upper peice, and 5 screws that go upwards into a flimsy plastic bumper. I don't see how that is anywhere near enough holding it in there.

Ah, I'm glad someone else sees the flaw in the design.
Once the fastening is secure, it works great.
