Need Guide to Removing the A/C System
Does anyone have a step-by-step guide to removing the A/C. In the 1.5 years I've had my car I've used it once, and that was to keep the motor cool in city traffic. I figure removing some weight off the front of the car would be nice. I bet it would also make working on the motor a whole lot easier. Thanks

whats up mike!
i was hoping someone would chime in with a nice little step my step........
well i pulled some of my A/C last night to make room for my pvc catch can.
i just removed to a/c dryer first...(the metal canister)
then the condenser...(mini radiator)
and dropped the washer fluid tank while i was there....
i now have alot better airflow to cool my radiator......
i didnt pull the compresor yet.... kinda tight! ill get it later!

that freon **** gets you soooo high! i just inhailed it all as it was coming out!.......
(just kidding!)
i ran out of freon before my h/c went in so i just un hooked a line and a small amount came out..... ( poor o-zone)
but if yours is full i think you need to take it to a shop and have them drain it for you... or just let it out yourself?
ill let you know if i have any problems with the compressor.....
HUGGERS ARE THE ****!

It's alot easier than you would think.. I had to replace my entire A/C setup minus the compressor. ( It wasn't the correct stuff to begin with)
Release pressure from the system.
Remove the lines connecting everything
- top of condensor to ac evap
- bottom of condensor to compressor
- compressor to ac dryer
- ac dryer to evap
Disconnect electrical connection from AC Compressor
- the little connector next to the ac dryer
Remove AC Compressor (4 Bolts)
Remove Condensor ( lift up and slide from the 4 tabs on the radiator)
As for removing the AC Evap, you have to remove the entire dashboard. I had to do this step to replace it with the proper evap. My car had one from a 93-97 F-Body.
I hope this helped.. Feel free to PM me any questions.

Also, removing the AC will have no effect on your heater controls. Unless you remove the entire HVAC system..

I removed mine awhile back..... pretty easy since I already had alot of stuff torn down for a header install. Mine had already run out of refrigerant due to a pinhole leak somewhere that I was too lazy to look for. (Never used the ac anyway) Just be careful when you are removing the various lines since sometimes a small amount of refrigerant can still be present and it comes out fast and COLD! Hardest part was the compressor and even that was easy. Most of the bolts are accessible from underneath.... I believe there were 4 huge bolts. You also might wan to get some of those small rubber caps from a parts store to plug the hole left in the evaporator to keep debris out in case you ever re-install it. The whole experience was easier than deleting the EGR and AIR. Good luck.
