Default FAST Intake

A got a 78mm FAST intake and tb. I was told this was better than the 90mm unless you've got forced induction or a larger engine. Is this true?

yes it is true unless you are running a huge cam which is not what we got from superior auto our cams are like 224/228 and a huge cam is in the 230 or greater duration.

Not true my B1 cam and stage 2 heads gained 27 rwhp from my LS6 intake and ported T/B to a FAST 90mm intake and a TPIS 90mm T/B.

did you also have it tuned after the intake swap? What are the specs of the B1 cam.

Yes I had it tuned but all that needed to be done was to add alittle fuel the tune for the cam and heads was done before the intake and T/B swap. The spec's on the cam are 221/221 559/559 114 lsa

Personally, I don't think the extra 5, maybe 10 horsepower, depending on cam/heads, is worth the extra money. Almost $1300 on intake. I can spend little less than $500 and get slightly less power. Unless it is a bigger displacement motor, it is not worth the money. If you plan on going bigger, it is worth it.

For 5 to 10 HP I would agree but I gained 27 rwhp and I didn't spend $1300 either. Also power throughout the curve was increased and the car just responds alot better at any rpm. You also would spend about the same $$ for a quality set of headers and get about the same gains so if I would do it for headers why not intake.

the 90mm seems to make a difference on 224 + head cars and hotter of course....
btw. the c6 vette comes stk with a 90mm.........

I meant 5-10 horsepower over an ls6. Then again, maybe the 90mm has good gains, but it is still rediculously priced.

My gains were over the LS6 but I agree there isn't anything cheap for the LS1's.

Nice gains!!!

I am just wondering what kind of gains you might have seen with a 78mm

Has anyone with a 346 tried both 78mm then 90mm intakes that could show a graph with the gains

I've just been told that the lsx intake just isn't worth the money by several shops, and let me get this straight. You had a heads and cam car with an ls6 intake. Then you saw a 27 rwhp gain on an lsx. Is that correct?

Thats correct, I went from 388 rwhp to 415 rwhp and that was on a Mustang dyno. Torque went from 373 rwtq to 386 rwtq also. Jay at Absolute Speed is the one who talked me into it he said with the heads on mine car with the B1 cam I should see about a 25 rwhp gain and he was right. He did a flow test on the LSX 90mm and said it flowed alot better than the LS6 intake.
