Default welding and pre bent tubing...

Just wondering what the best way to weld up exhaust would be.. i have a 225 ac/dc stick welder or a 120 volt small wire fed. i know the wire fed can get to the tops better but im planning on doin this where theres room enough for either. just which would make the best weld with minimal chance of leaks or breaks.

also where is a good place to buy pre mandrel bent exhaust piping?

hmm.. think a stick welder would be a PITA with something as thin as exhaust tubing.

Stainless Works sells bends >>-->

I would imagine the wire feed would be neeter and there would be less chance of an exhaust leak. Is that a gas-free or MIG wire feed?

Definitely the wire feed welder. If you're using flux cored wire, the welds wont be as neat, but if you're a good welder, they wont leak. Gas shielded setups are much nicer.

yea thats what i thought. the wire fed is a gasless and id have to go search for some flux core. what setting do u think would be right with the wire fed... im not experienced with that at all. ive only used the stick welder for all my work so i dont know what would be different with the flux core...

look at Ebay. Do a search for '3" mandrel' as I've been buying pieces there so I can fab my own exhaust up.

i don't know what the price differences are, but summit sells bends and straight pieces and whatnot......if you're already used to stick welding and have the stuff to do it, go for it.......like you said, you'll have room either way.........if you had both raring to go then a trained monkey could mig weld it, but if you've got stick experience go for it and save the setup hassle........is it stainless or no?

if you are gonna go witht the flux core, it doesn't long to out the settings...but if you've already got some 7018 or whatever that's not to big(dia), i'd just go with that....but that's just me...
