Question porting my maf and tb

i have a 02 t/a and just installed slp headers and i want to go do another pull on the dyno since i made 350 stock. just wanted to know if it is worth porting my maf and t/b since i am going to be spending a couple of hours on doing it. will it give me any more hp. any true numbers! Also is it hard to do?

Porting the TB is fairly easy and worthwhile.

Porting the MAF is easy and one of the
stupidest things you can do to this engine.

Cuz if you can't tune for the changes in air flow/velocity, then your tables/fuel get all fucked up. Have fun with your motor running like *** if you want....

dont **** with your maf whatsoever!!! port your throttle body all night long...just dont touch that maf. u can descreen it and smooth out the inside with some steel wool or polish or something...but dont mess with anything else. oh yeah, are u sure your car put down 350 to the wheels stock?? thats a little hard to believe

yea i wasn't gonna say anything, i guess he got the same special "LS6" motor needforspeed got in his ws6

factory freaks dyno in the 335-340 range. 350+ range is stock Z06 territory.

When he said "stock" I assumed he was saying stock internals, as in with the headers he mentioned and boltons. That would make it more believable, I think my roomate did 346 after his FLP's and boltons were installed. Now a STOCK car? I dont think its possible for 350. That dyno sounds mighty generous.

"Porting" permanently alters the calibration of the
sensor and your port-job is unique so there's no way
to get an accurate recalibration into the PCM, short
of blowing a lot time and/or money in tuning.

I would avoid any aftermarket MAF as well as advising
not to port the stocker. If you aren't able to tune then
you are going to be worse off. The only thing worse
than screwing up the MAF yourself, is paying $399 for
somebody else to screw one up for you. Er, I mean,
"calibrate for cold air induction".

If you want to get rid of the screen, that's another
matter. Opinions vary there too. But it seems to work
out for most people. If you got a cheap junkyard
MAF you could descreen the front end off that and
just swap, having the original to go back to.

I ported my MAF, ONLY because I was getting a dyno tune the very next day. I didnt even put the ported housing on until we started tuning. Porting the TB is a very good mod and you should do it for sure.

Just get a Z06 MAF and tune it with the Z06 MAF table. I know several people that have done that.

Can you guys just not help with his question? you cant ever say or do anything without all of the damn crybabies whining and calling BS. his car DID make 350. actually it was 349.8 if you want to be technical. i was there to watch it. i will bet any amount of money that we can take it back to the same place and it would make 360rwhp. with headers.
the dyno operator was Chuck, the guy that owns the place.

Jeez. its like a bunch of kids pissed off at the world, then they get on here and talk bad about everyone elses car. CHILL OUT. why cant you just give a thumbs up instead of putting your WORTHLESS .02 in???

ill tell you what your momma's told you. if you cant say anything nice, KEEP YOUR ******* MOUTH SHUT!!!!!!!!

now back to the actual topic. i would just hog the **** out of the TB and not **** with the MAF.

Is that the raw numbers or the SAE corrected numbers? It's pretty easy to skew things in your favor when your racing dynos.

Now the 1/4 mile numbers in your sig. tell a different tale. Nice strong car running 111mph.

Maybe we can run next time we're both at Thunder Valley. My sled 99 weighs 3720 with me in it and only put down 359 hp. You should be well over that with your headers now. And I'm not doubting your numbers either. Since we're so close, should be a good race, don't you think? I'd even run my 2000, it only put down 320 last time I had it on a dyno. No crying and bitching here.

And like everyone else has said, leave the MAF alone.
