Flows better. Gets rid of the EGR fitting.
It is a direct bolt on, as long as you get the coolant lines.
On a bone stock motor, it is good for 5-15 rwhp. On a modded motor such as yours, you can expect 10-20.
Definite worthwhile mod and definetely something you need to look into if you wish to get the most power out of your set up.
Looks cheap!? It's stronger, stiffer, and lighter than the OEM material. That and for the price, I don't think I could ever consider it to look cheap. As far as it's usefulness for your application, It should provide more gains than the LS6 intake. Exactly how much, I'm not at liberty to say...

um b/c the lsx flows better then the ls6 all across the curve?? it was specifically designed to flow better then the ls6, otherwise wtf was the point of making it? and for $700+ it damn well better. the bigger the cam, the larger your cid, the larger gain(it can feed a lot more air then the ls6, so the bigger setups can take better advantage of this). plus it can be port-matched for even better results.

So are you guys basically saying that a car that will eventually have all the bolt-ons and a cam, would benefit from the LS6 as bang-for-the-buck since the LSX isn't worth it over the LSX? I need to know because I plan on getting an upgraded intake manifold eventually, and will have the usual bolt-ons, cam, etc and wanna know which to spend my money on so I don't get screwed.
From what I've seen & read, the LSX is worth about twice the gain the LS6 will give you. To begin with they were also about tiwce the price ($800 vs $400). Now that there are used LS6 manifolds available, you can find better deals on them. Basically, the higher you go in the rpm band, and the bigger your demand is for air, the more gains you will get out of either. Right now with your setup you could see 10hp out of the LS6, and 20 out of the LSX (provided you have a good set of headers).

I don't think the 78mm offers nearly enough over the LS6 intake (in most applications at least) to justify it's price.

Also look for the flat bottom (LS6) versus the 'wavey' bottom (LS1 intake).
