Anyone Removed Their Baffles?
I was just looking under the hood today at the intake and wondered if anyone has ever removed their baffles so the air has a straight shot? If so...how did it work? Any problems? What kind of job is it to remove them?

Wont do much on the lid. you'll probaply get .0005369 hp. All removing them does is make things look ugly.

Man, you guys are harsh
Yes, you can take them out by drilling the rivets out and breaking the glue loose. They are tough to break loose, but they'll come out. It is best to use an oil type air filter (K&N or other) if you don't already have one.
Another thing that makes it even more effective is to seal the hood up to the airbox so you get only outside air in. If you PM me your e-mail address, I would be happy to send you a write-up I did on how to make one for a few bucks worth of stuff from Home Depot. It is in Microsoft Word with some diagrams to help you.

Anyone got some pics of the baffles removed or maybe or BLK02WS6 have any pics of your home made setup. I got your email and alittle confused on step #8 how it actually gets closer to sealing against the air box

i cut off the tabs where the honeycomb used to mount to. i left the tabs for about a year before realizing the car looks better without them (the honeycombs) so just decided to do it.... makes it alot smoother looking

I removed my WS6's hood baffles and I can't say I noticed a seat-of-the-pants difference but I can certainly tell you this: A LOT more air is being directed to the air filter then with the baffles in place. I also have a K&N air filter but the airbox and airlid are completely stock and untouched. I personally don't think the K&N air filter makes any difference over a paper filter. Prior to removing the baffles I was cleaning the K&N every oil change or so (about 2500-3500 miles). Now that the baffles have been removed, I clean the filter every 1500-2500 miles depending on the weather conditions during that period and obviously the locations of my driving (country, track, and/or freeway). I get much much more dirt and coarse debris in/on the filter since the removal of the baffles. Since I clean my K&N a lot, I make damn sure I do it right. I don't want to have to buy another MAF because of an air filter.
