Default why pay $700 for GMMG...

why pay $700 + $150 for tips on this exhaust?

did you guys know you can make your own using the same components they use for about 1/2 the cost?

they use "Stainlessworks.com" chamber mufflers.. they sell for $119.95 each.

and if you didnt know, summitracing sells these same mufflers built by stainlessworks for the same price.

of course yes you would have to have a shop bend the neded pipe and such, but thats only about 100$.

ive made my own using this combo, and compared it to my friends GMMG on his 99 Trans Am.. its exactly the same. BUT since he has an LS1 and i have a gen 1 sbc, the firing order is different and produces a slightly different sound, so saying they sound identical is something i cant do.. (comparing apples to oranges)

i will be putting up a sound clip later on this month, as well as pictures on how to duplicate this exhaust. im not flaming anyone at all.. if you have the money and can spend $700, great, but for those on a budget, im offering this as an alternative. There are also other people on Thirdgen.org that have duplicated this exhaust flawlessly.

your thoughts?

If you think $750+ for an exhaust is expensive, you should see mine

There are many people that already know this, but still pay for the convenience of having it already assembled and ready to put on. It is the same concept why people pay $20-30 for a coolant bypass when the parts only cost around $5. It is an issue of convenience.

People buy it for the ease of installation. They'd rather just have a box arrive at their house and bolt it on, than having an exhaust fabricated. If I could get Lane to do a knock off for under $500 I would, but I don't see that happening. I don't mind having to save up for a catback, I'll only be buying it once.

Has anyone replaced the LM resonator with one of those mufflers? I think it would be louder than the GMMG because there is only one muffler. Just curious.

I said screw all of it and went the true dual route. Doesn't everyone end up doing that anyways?

No. I won't be going true duals for the emissions purposes and that **** is just too loud for me. Nor do I want gas fumes everywhere all day long. I can always quiet down the GMMG with hi-flow cats. Plus my tq arm is the Spohn Chassis mount which td's would be a bitch to work around. There's a few reasons people stick with catbacks.

Not here in Texas . TEXAS DPS troopers are complete ******** when it comes to true duals that dump before the axles. They will **** up your day if they get under there and notice that you took out the cats as well. You're lucky you live in Florida.
