Default Looking for feedback on the Dynatech SupperMaxx Header setup

I don't see too many people running the Dynatech SupperMaxx Header setup. Why is that? They seem to be good quality and very good materials. Where do they fall short, or do they?

http://www.secureperformanceorder.co...re/f_body.html

http://www.secureperformanceorder.co...ProductID=5385

Any info would be helpful.

I remember reading one post on here.. The guy was having trouble getting a seal at the collector. That's really the only time I've even seen those headers mentioned here.

That's very strange. I can't believe no one uses them. They are T304 stainless header and y and the cats are easily removed for OR pipes.

Anyone else with any info?

I think that some also had a problem getting to the oil drain plug. They do look like very good headers though.

I've got the SuperMaxx headers on my '02 Z28. Let me qualify my remarks by saying that these are the only headers I have any experience with on an LS1. The SuperMaxx headers are very well built and fit like a glove. The install was painless, no cutting, grinding, or removing anything (except the oil filter). The driver side header does fit close to the drainplug, but does not interfer at all. When changing the oil, the stream of oil hits the header slightly. I'm very happy with them.

Thank you for the feedback.

Anyone else have a set or know someone that does with some info?

Thanks.

I've got a set. They are a real good quality setup. The only issue I was having is I was having a bit of a tick tick tick after the install, but it was because I didn't have the cats tightened down enough. Now no problem at all.

They fit really tight to the body, I haven't had any ground clearance problems BUT my car isn't lowered either, so I can't comment on that part. I also don't have any banging problems either.

The install (like was said earlier) was a dream, did them in the drive way on jack stands and I didn't even have to remove the oil filter. I've had no issues with oil changes either, the stream does contact the bottom edge of the header a little bit but it's nothing a rag can't take care of.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

Just curious... what type of gaskets did it come with? Did you block off your air or keep it? Did you keep your egr?

Thanks.

It came with all gaskets needed for installation. As to what type I don't know the type. I did block off the AIR but it wasn't necessary, I just wanted to clean up under the hood so I did it. I haven't had any trouble without it though. EGR is blocked as well.

OK, thanks. I was wondering if the gaskets were paper or metal. I want the best seal possible.

Anyone else out there?

Are they? I know they look like thay are removable (just like the FLPs) but I thought that the cats actually welded/attached to the Y pipe and only flanged at one end?
There is a lot of confusion over this because the ad for these headers often shows it TWO different ways...they are actually showing a pic of coated FLPs in one of the photos and the actual stainless Supermaxxs in the other.

That's one of the things I don't like about them, you HAVE TO get them with AIR and EGR fittings, no choice there.

I'm getting QTPs.

I know the SupperMaxx headers are available in off-road too. Check this out...

Those are Dynatechs but I don't think they are part of the stainless Supermaxx line...as far as I know the Supermaxxs only come one way.

I believe that to be true as well, I was just pointing out that they make those headers without emissions. You can also buy the y and have the whole kit... it just costs more.

Without a doubt the cats are interchangable. They are not welded on to either side. I know this because I've changed mine out once but they were WAY TOO LOUD with my GMMG, so I put the cats back on and now it is music to my ears.

Oh now I know what you meant by type of gasket, they are metal NOT paper.

It also makes since that they look like a pic of the FLP's because they are identical designs except the Supermaxx are Stainless and the FLP's are not. That's the only difference, to my knowledge.

I like the way the cats are attached to the header on BOTH sides!

well I've done lots of lookin' around and such and I'm going with the dynatech's complete with cated y pipe setup for my car. I've heard no complaints about them and like that they come with a really nice looking y pipe setup and its all Stainless but first I want to get HP tuner, then the headers.
