Default going back from true duals to y pipe catback setup....

i know im gonna catch some **** for this, but im just gettin over all the interior vibration and noise. i cant even hear the ****** radio, and this is my daily driver. anyway, i have pacesetters, so i was thinkin of going with an ory pipe(dont really wanna do cats again) and a nice catback exhaust. i dont wanna spend too much money. im deciding between the hooker and the loudmouth. i love the hooker sound, but i love the simplicity of the loudmouth. i know im gonna have some rasp cuz of the ory, but i want a sweet sound out of the exhaust. im sure id probably lose less power going with the loudmouth over the hooker, but the hooker does have a sweet sound. my car always behaved better on the street with a catback over the duals. the sound of the duals is great, but im not trying to attract too much attention. anyway, other than the dynomouth, i was wondering if anyone had used another muffler in place of the loudmouth resonator. oh, by the way, im putting in my mti heads and cam in a few weeks and id like to wait to have it tuned til i get the new exhaust on. any suggestions for me fellas???

i had the dynomouth and it was nice, but I got an exhaust ticket and was tired of the deadly rasp so i switched out the bullet for a Borla 40085 and it sounds so much better now. It's not quite as loud, about 60% of the rasp is gone now, and it feels like i picked back up some low end torque. I had my exhaust made from the stock Y & I-pipe to mimick the loudmouth from the beginning so I never just had to replace just the resonator, and since i used the stock I-pipe it was cheap to get a shop to make the Y- after the bullet for the dual outlets. It would run you a good amount of money to have a whole y-pipe fabbed up. It's funny that I have full exhaust done and yet still have about 5" of stock 2.75" pipe between my borla and my MAC ORY.

So why not just do some real mufflers? You can tame down a TD system, and still have great sound/exceptional flow.

I wouldn't run a Loudmouth with an ORY pipe on your set up, it will potentially be EXTREMELY loud and obnoxious. I like the lighter weight/stainless construction of the Loudmouth as well but that noise will just wear you out quite quickly.
I would get the Hooker over the LM and maybe do a QTP electric cut out for when it's needed.

well, i dont like the clearance issues with a daily driver. i will most likely get the hooker, but im just drawn to the loudmouth for some reason.

I would highly recommend the Hooker over the Loudmouth in your situation. I've had the Loudmouth, duals, and now the Hooker. Interior noise with the LM is quite similar to the interior noise with the duals. With the Hooker, the interior noise is much more bearable.

Not to mention, the Loudmouth sounds awful with an ORY.

yeah, it sounds like hooker is the way to go for me. i had it before with an ORY, but i changed back to true duals cuz i missed the sound of them. my only complaint about the catback setup was a shitty install by the exhaust shop. the y pipe hung way too low and scraped all over town. it was a tad bit raspy, but i dont wanna go back to cats. i already had my rear o2s deleted. anyway, im going with the pacesetter y pipe cuz it gives better clearance.
